We TRULY enjoy our vacations at WDW. Have stayed at GF, AK and BW. Love it. It is what Disney is all about.
However, this time we tried HH for our vacation (just the two of us...no kids). Oh my lord. The place is GORGEOUS and an absolute gem for Adults. Here are some highlights to point out:
1> Resort is on a cove, facing backwaters, which change with the tides (low tides reveal oyster beds and small islands with LOTS of birds to see, while high tide shows jumping fish). VERY peaceful.
2>Very few kids, which I am sure was due to the time we went (this past week). We love kids, but this was an Adults trip and was AWESOME.
3> Beach is a bus ride (5 min), or a bike ride (more on this later) (10 min), or a walk (15 min). Beach is beautiful, with a beach house for Disney guests with swimming pools and several game tables.
4> The island is golf heaven. Nuff said
5> Deep sea fishing is available right from the marina off the resort. Could not jam it in this trip, but we will be back.
6> Food? Burp and yummy
7> Island is VERY bike friendly. We spent more time on bikes than we ever have in a week.
8> Staff is ultra friendly. Was a pleasure interacting with them.

Just thought I would post this to help people who were thinking about HH. Let me know if I can answer any specific questions.

We went in 2008 and would really love to get back within the next couple years. I agree, it's wonderful!

I'd love to stay at the Disney resort in Hilton Head. We were in HH many many years ago, before Disney was there, and loved it.

I love Hilton Head. Haven't stayed at Disney's resort, but it's on my bucket list!

Hi hopeful4fl......so glad I found your post given the fact that you were just at HH last week! We are going next week....also adult only trip....we have 3 couples staying in a Grand Villa. I called the front desk a few days ago and asked if they could email me the weekly schedule of daily events. They said they will but it doesn't come out until Saturday of the week before, so, we will receive it on our travel day. One question I have is sort of silly, but, I read somewhere that pool towels are left in the rooms at HH.....not AT the pools in carts like they are at all the other DVC resorts? So, do they have pool towels in carts at the Beach House or are the pool towels left in rooms for the Big Dipper pool, which is located at the main resort? Also, any offsite restaurants in particular you would recommend?

You have towels in the room (we were in Studio and had 4 towels), but you can exchange them at the pool.
Here is our list of our fav restaurants in order of our preference (yours may differ :))
1> 843 - EXCELLENT cocktails and delicious food. (about 2 miles from resort) $$
2> San Miguel's - very tasty food and well priced - at the Marina $$
2 a> Bucci - at the marina - $$ - Best HH food prices and good drinks
3> Java Burrito company - 2 miles away $
4> Bistro 17 - at the marina $$$ (Excellent food but pricey, hence lower)
5> Lucky Rooster - <1 mile away - $$$
6> Mediterranean Grill - at the marina $ - I expected more from a taste perspective
7> Backyard Dock (I think that was the name) <1 mile. I LOVED it (Soft Shell Crab), but she was underwhelmed, hence the rating - $$
8> World of Beer - $$ - Wow beer selection

I also had Oysters on the half shell at several places. The best value is at Captain Gillian's, right at the marina. HH, 50 cent each for Oysters.

Please note we also made day trips to Charleston and Savannah, so only had 5 days to eat in HH. There were 2 places we could not get reservations on, but you should try:
1> The Jazz corner
2> Dye's Gullah fixin

P.S. HH in this post is for Happy Hour :)

Thanks for all the great info hopeful4fl! We are actually flying into Charleston and spending our first night there and also plan a day trip to Savannah.

Thanks for this. I am looking at staying here for one night and then continuing on to Disneyworld.

I've considered going to Disney resort at Hilton Head. Thank you for providing this info. It's very helpful.

Thank you for posting details here! We've been looking into going here for quite a while now.

Great to know! I really like visting Charlestown but can't see spending a week there.. so maybe 3 nights in HH and 3 nights in Charleston is a greAt option!
