I just booked HHI today for a trip in April. I was thrilled to get exactly what we wanted (2BR) within the 7 month window. Now for my questions:

Should we request a certain view, or building or floor (or anything else regarding our room)?

Are there any "must see" or "must do" things that we should know about or need to reserve in advance? Our boys are 7 and 10.

Thank you so much for any help and advice you can offer. I cannot tell you how much I've learned here (including that there are more 2BR than 1BR units at HHI).

Our first trip was in August. The building we were in (also a 2BR), was only 2 stories high. I have read that you should ask for a second floor unit because of noise issues, we were lucky that we got one anyway. There are historical places on the island, such as a lighthouse. There are 2 outlet shopping areas on the mainland right before you get to the island. On your way onto the island, visit the Visitor Center. There are tons of brochures and maps, with offers for free stuff to do, and things you pay for, such as dolphin watching.

At the resort there are bikes to rent, walking areas, a pool with slide, and another pool with games at the Beach House. I don't know how warm the water will be in April, but in August, it was almost hot. The pools were too warm for my liking, but it was 90 degrees every day.

There are activities for kids and adults at the resort that you sign up for in advance, such as a barbeque, crafts, informative classes. You will see when you get there. I would think in April that it wouldn't be as crowded as the traditional summer months.

Most people on these boards enjoy HH as a Disney Resort, but a place to relax. If you do a search, you will find what people like about this place.

I would not worry about trying to make sure you get a good place. they are all good places. Nothing is too far from each other. At the most I request non-smoke. I have never been put in a smoke room. everytime I have ask for a marsh view, It has been full. I stopped asking about 4 years ago, and I get a marsh view about everyother time now. I also have only been put on the first floor twice.

I have checked in before and have witnessed some people get really upset when they did not get their top floor, marsh view, next to pool, close to parking request. They would still have a great room, but they were very upset.

All rooms are great at HHI, you will have a great time.

As for a top floor with 7 and 10 year old boys, you might want to do something nice for the people below you. :bounce:

stuff for the 7 & 10 There is pirate golf to the right, , a mexican place across from the resort where you can sit outside a see the boats. Just past the mall the pizza place and ice cream are right next to each other. You can get to all these places riding bikes withour geting onto a road. (its more like parking lot access lanes) To drive to is a large arcade, bowling.

The onsite activities are great for that age. The even have a kids night out. they will go see a movie or play pirate golf and get pizza.
