I'm so excited!:cool1:
I just made a reservation for a 1 BR at Hilton Head for July 13-17. I thought this was going to be impossible at 7 months out. Of course, I set my alarm on this Saturday morning just so I could call exactly when they opened. It was worth it!!!
Now, I need to know from the experts what great things there are to do at HH in July. I'm ready to start planning!

HHI is our favorite non-wdw place. We even added on there in 2002 to get summer at 11 months out. You were very lucky to get July at 7 months. July is great..fireworks every Tuesday at Shelter Cove(you can avoid all the crowds because the resort has great views! Beach and pool time is perfect, but can be really hot and humid....the villas are spacious and have wonderful porches for am coffee and late night rocking chair time. Its the relaxing vacation for us...lots of reading, beach chair time and swimming. we love to cook breakfast, and look forward to great dinners out..Old Oyster Factory, Frankie Bones, Scott's Fish Market are all ones we enjoy, but there are many more to choose. We'll be there in June this year so we miss the fireworks. Have fun!

Oh and the shopping is great! and golf(regular and mini) is also great.

Thanks for the info, Connears.
Does anyone know anything about dolphin tours? I think I read about that on the board. Also, we're interested in deep sea fishing, or at least my husband and two sons are. Does anyone know a good place to book an excursion?

I booked a dolphin tour through the recreation department. If I remember, I think they work with Low Country tours, and the boat only held 6 people so it was a nice, small tour. I've never been to HHI in July, but I have been in several 1 BRs. Maybe you'll be lucky enough to get the one with this view-

Or this one was pretty nice too, if you don't mind being on the first floor-

HH is on a marsh?

Yes, with a shuttle bus to the beach, where there is a nice beach house with snack bar, a nice pool , and beach!

Congrats on securing your reservation. We will be there June 6 - 12th and are so looking forward to it based on the trip reports we've read here.:cool1:

Congrats on getting a July reservation!! You will have a wonderful time! We are going in June for our third summer in a row, we sooooo love it!

You will love HHI. It's our happy place! We will be back there in June!

Loved the pictures!! Were they taken by bldg 13?? It looks like it. We were there last summer and every day a dolphin would come up that inlet every day around high tide fishing.

There are fireworks in August. Disney does not put on the fireworks, Shelter Cove does.

Congratulations! I am jealous.

I am waitlisted for the week after Easter.

Doesn't look good.

Yes- it is like a marsh but out several yards from the marshy part it is more like a large inlet- Deep enough for boats and dolphins swim around in there.

But you can't see that from the rooms, all you can see is marsh based on the pictures in this thread. Not what I expected HH to be. If I"m going to stay someplace on the water I want to BE on the water. Not take a shuttle bus to get to the beach. To each his own.

No, the first was taken from the Live Oak Lodge, #1132 I think it was, the second was taken from #1812. Both are 1 BRs, which the OP mentioned. I don't remember any 1 BR in building 13, or if there is one there, we haven't had it. I'll bet that would be a beautiful building! I've seen the dolphins from Live Oak Lodge-isn't that fun to see them?

It would be interesting to know how many people visited the Hilton Head resort with those same feelings, but fell in love with it anyhow! :lovestruc It really is a place you have to experience to fully understand. I will concede, however, that there are some people who don't fall in love with the place, but there are also a lot of people who don't understand why most of us return to WDW time after time after time! ;)

Building 13 has 4 dedicated 2-bedroom villas, no studios, 1-bedrooms, or GVs. It's my favorite location, but a lot of people don't care for it because it is somewhat removed from the rest of the resort and has the longest walk to the resort pool and recreation area.

Thanks for all the info so far! I do have to say I am confused about the choice of views. I have downloaded a map of the resort, but I still don't really understand. I know there are marsh views and wood views. What are the other choices? What do you recommend as the best location? Best building? Keep it coming!

We are also going to HHI for the first time. Got 3 of 4 days wanted.
(Called at 7 months.)
I did call each day for many days till I landed 3 days in a row.
Any info you have is welcome. We are looking forward to our stay.
June 30, July 1 and July 2.

:cool1:

I love that photo Simba's mom from Live oak lodge! That is where we stayed this past June and had that exact view. It was amazing!!! Our family was on the balcony alot looking out for our one dolphin friend and many turtle families in addition to all the birds.

As far as views I never request any and just see what they give us. It seems to me every view at the resort would be intersting. Some overlook marsh, others overlook the pool area all have a wonderful wide balcony with a picninc table and benches and rocking chairs to relax and enjoy the view. Besides with a July check-in the resort is bound to be near capacity and harder to get your desired view.
