Hilton Head--Cash Reservation?

We are DVC members and have enjoyed staying at most of the resorts at WDW. We were wondering if it would ever be possible to book HHI for a cash reservation. We prefer to use our points at WDW, but also have an interest in staying at HHI. Does anyone have information about this?

I would guess that it depends on the time of year, but I know that it is possible. I am going to HH in a week am staying half of the time on points and half the time on cash. Hope this helps!

We use Members' Cash to book at HHI lots of times. That's partially because when we go in November, the MC price is about $125/night for a 1 BR and only about $90/night for a studio. Compare that with the "cost" of weekend points, and at that time, cash is the way to go. We mix cash nights and member's cash nights, and the stay is seemless-we can't tell when we're there which were the cash nights and which were the points nights. In the summertime, when cash and points are both significantly higher, the best way to go might be different.

We used the member cash discount (25% off) for a weekend in a 2BR last May. It was just before summer rates kicked in. I believe our cost was less than if we had rented weekend points at $10 per point. Availability may not be great, though. When I booked a couple of months in advance we could only get a 2BR. About 30 days before our trip I could also get a 1BR, but the cost difference was not much so we stuck with the 2BR.

Are you planning a short visit or a week long visit? We just booked a HHI condo for this summer through VRBO and it is so much less expensive than renting a 2BR at HHI for a week. We will be able to walk to the beach in 4-5 minutes. We would consider the Disney resort again for a short stay - we did like it - but for longer stays there are much less expensive options.

We went to HHI toward the end of October 2009 and LOVED it. At that time there was an incredibly low cash rate for Visa holders, and the cash discount for DVC members was more than 25% off. We paid ~$140/ night total for a 2 BR (made the reservation in early July and there was never a 1 BR available, so did a combo of points and cash for a week in a 2 BR).
