Anyone stayed here before? How does this compare to the Marriott resorts? Any insight would be appreciated. We stayed at the Cypress Harbour before and loved it. Just wondering people's experiences of Hilton vs. Marriott, and in particular, this resort.

Thanks!

I'm at HGVC on I-drive right now.

It's pretty much the same quality as other Hiltons/Marriotts, etc. It's good size, but not as large as Grande Vista or Cypress Harbour. It's pretty new (I think the first building (of seven) opened in late 2003 or early 2004. Building 6 should open just about any day. And the seventh and final building is under construction. 2 buildings are 6 floors high, the others are 7 floors high.
2 elevators in each building.

There are two pool areas: A large pool area with waterfalls and children's play area next to the main building. There are two spas here. And another smaller (but still good size) pool with a spa.
The seven buildings surround a small lake.

Beautiful resort with granite countertops, great Master bathroom, comfortable furniture and a wasker and dryer in each condo!!
Located across the street is a PUBLIX and a Walgreens along with McDonalds and the Outback Steakhouse. Very convenient.

The Premium Outlets are just down the street as well.

The pools are very nice. The large one with the waterfall is great!

Thanks for the responses! Does anyone have any recommendations for preferred buildings?

We have stayed at both the HGVC I-Drive and the Marriott Sabal Palms (at the Marriott World Center). We stayed in a 2BR suite at both resorts. I preferred the Marriott, even though it is more dated and less fancy. The size of the overall suite at the Marriott was larger with a full size washer/dryer. There is an indoor pool, heated kiddie pool, and water slide. The parking was easier, and the hotel was two levels (so no elevators). I liked the location/atmosphere better. (slightly closer to Disney, surrounded by golf course) Also, the bathtub was the size of a small hot tub and my kids loved it. Having said all of that, the HGVC I-Drive is gorgeous, and you won't be dissapointed if you stay there. Hope this helps.

I can tell you that the 3 bedroom units (those are a 2-bedroom unit with attached lock-out studio) do NOT face the lake. The last time we were there we had a one-bedroom unit and it did face the lake. My preference in rooms would be the units closest to the main building and main pool, but we have been in one of the farthest buildings and it was fine. We had a problem with our dryer and one morning I took a walk down to the front desk and mentioned it. Two repairmen were waiting by my door before I even got back there. They fixed it and then the front desk followed up two times again just to make sure it was fixed to our satisfaction. The deli serves great sandwiches, generous in size. It is a very nice place, but the grounds aren't what I would call enormous. Take extra coffee and filters, I always went through what they gave me pretty fast. We loved the roomy bathrooms and comfy bed and bedding.
