We are new to the time share thing and looking for others who have stayed in an HGVC resort - specifically the Sea World property.

Since we are going in Dec. the points are REALLY LOW even for a 3 bedroom place. We will be off site, but able to bring up to 6 people and our own family of 4 to play with the Mouse!

Any thought are appreciated!

Jess

We have stayed there twice now both times in the "Southampton" building..which is probably one of the newer buildings but not newest..the newest ones they have built are actually further away from the checkin building and main pool area however they have built another pool that is closer to the newer units.

We have had a really nice unit both times and the main pool area is really nice. They usually have games going on for the kids (at least both times we were there) and we just have had good experiences both times

Location is good especially for Sea World but still close enough to Disney and Universal. If you can get a good price (low points) I would go for it

We stayed there last year for a week in a 3 BR unit (actually it was a 2BR and we had the studio next door attached) I am pretty sure they don't have 3 BR units, they just open the lockoffs. The unit was nice enough. I think we were in an older section, but it was clean, large, had a washer/dryer, screened porch, and a huge tv, and 3 bathrooms. It was great to have since we had 3 adults and 3 children with us. I did like the Vistana's units better (but we were in the brand new section, so it's really not a fair comparison)..... if you can get HGVC at a good price, I say go for it. I wouldn't hesitate to stay there again. The pools were nice, no waterslides or anything, but nice. We were closest to the main pools by the front desk.
It was right across from Sea World and only a short drive from Disney.
Any other specific questions you may have, feel free to ask! Good luck!

Jen

You all make me soooooo excited!!! I went to Disney World with the family for the first time (their first, my first as adult) in Dec. 03. I didn't think I would be going back anytime soon as we live in Seattle. :guilty:

BUT...since we purchased the time share DH actually was the one to SUGGEST we go back to Disney. The time we have to travel is actually SILVER time in Orlando - WHAT A BARGAIN!!! We can get a 3 bed for just a bit more than our 1 bed points. Can't beat that! :earseek:

With the milage we have built up we can get 3/4 airline tickets on milage and a 7day hopper pass with options for $1100. :earseek: :earseek:

A fairly inexpensive vacation if you ask me. AND, since our Timeshare is Hilton, our exchange fee for in network is only $49! Bargains all around! :earseek:

Thanks for the feedback. I have used the TUG bulletin boards and there are good reviews there as well. The Lock off units would be fine as we would be bringing friends or family - more privacy is always nice - and two kitchens can't hurt - the more fresh coffee the BETTER (since Disney coffee SUCKS!!!!!!!!!! - I am from Seattle! :D )

Thanks!!!!

Jess :cheer2:

this is a beautiful resort. Loved our stay. Some of the units have the BIG TV.

If you stay here and can afford it - go do the Discovery Cove - it is very nice and worth the money!

We are staying there for President's Week, 1 BR Suite. Do they supply soap, shampoo, coffee, etc or do we need to bring with us.
Thanks

yes, they supply all thos things.. (although we like to take our own too!)

We liked HGVC at sea world... although we own at HGVC Tuscany...
TUSCANY is closer to Disney and WOW.. if you can get in there... wow!!!! its amazing.

Sammi, Where is Tuscany? Do you have a website link?

thanks, herc.

We stayed there. Very nice place. You will like it a lot. I wish I could travel on the off peek times, cheaper prices and less crowds. Oh well, with three kids in school I'm stuck with their schedule. But look, I'm leaving in 4 days!!!

remember if you can to do at WDW

MVMCP - at the MK
Candlelight Procession at Epcot (plus Christmas around the world)
OLS - at the studios

at US/IOA
Universal Christmas party

We were in a 1 bedroom at HGVC-SW recently, February 4-7 and it was wonderful. It was our second stay there. This time we were closest to the 2nd pool but it was too cold for us to swim. The movie Ray was showing there one night, but the theater was too small for the number of people who wanted to see it, so we passed.

Have a wonderful time.

Aloha. SammieG.

I was looking for info on HGVC Tuscany/Intl Drive (the reservation says Tuscany, don't know why since they're using the International Drive on everything else), and I saw that you're an owner there. (We own in LasVegas, but have only stayed in Honolulu.) We'll be staying there in May and then transferring to the DVC at OKW.

Anyway.......I'm wondering if you know if they provide any shuttle service to any of the attractions.

Thank much!

Nancy

I am so sorry, I just dont know the answer to your question...
we always use our hire car..

sorry I cant help more.

You will LOVE it though.. its a fab resort!

Aloha. Thanks so much for taking the time to respond. I'm sure it will be terrific. We will have a car, but I was just wondering. If I discover any information worth sharing while we're there, I'll be sure to post it. HGVC doesn't really provide much advance information.

We've been to Orlando 20 times over the years (when we lived in Chicago it was a quick trip and a good respite from winter), but have always been spoiled by staying at WDW resorts and not having to drive, and I don't think we've hired a car on more than 5 of those trips.

I see that you're taking a Disney holiday soon. Where will you be staying on this trip?

Thank you again.

Nancy

we were given 5000 bonus points with our timeshare purchase at HGVC and so we are using them. Sadlly, we cant spend them at Tuscany.. so we are staying at Summerbay and the second week at Vistana Villages.

Doubt any of them will be as good as Tuscany though!! It was superb.
I have photos if you are interested - I can send them to you.

PM me and I will send them to you!
