Hilton gold points card

Have just been sorting through my holiday documents etc and found a Hilton gold points card! What are the advantages of having a gold card or are they all gold

We are only staying for one night at the Hilton at Gatwick before we fly!

my parents have a gold card nope there are a few
they say that they get a free upgrade on the room, added air miles apart from that not too sure what else you get.

The exact benefits can vary from hotel to hotel... I always get airmiles, there is virtually always a seperate/express line and the reception desk for members. Sometimes I get an upgraded room (have had junior suite before or an executive floor or a deluxe room), sometimes you just get a couple of small bottles of wine, some water and a couple of chocolates.

The exact benefits are at the hotels discretion - sometimes they make a big deal out of gold status, other times you get hardly anything... BUT I don't think it is a bad thing to have...

If you haven't done already, register the card. Then phone the Hilton you are staying at and ask if they can add your Hilton Honors number to your reservation: if you add the number, then they will know you are Gold and you are much more likely to get the benefits (because they can assign an upgraded room in advance...).

Most often we've had a letter of welcome in our room along with water, wine and/or snacks. We also get airmiles. The upgrades can be very nice, but can be 'all or nothing'. Our best upgrade was at the Hilton New Orleans (pre Katrina) to the concierge level with great views of the Mississippi.

We've stayed at the LGW Hilton as gold members (but years ago) and I don't remember anything special there but you may be lucky.

Were the same - staying at Gatwick the night before our trip ive added the number to our reservation. Hope to think we'll get an upgrade but im not counting on it!

Hi,
We have been upgraded every time we have stayed in a Hilton in the UK. We got a room on the executive floor and were able to use the Executive Lounge. They serve complimentary snacks and alcohol and breakfast too. Also get Flying Club miles as well as HH points for free stays.
