thanks:Pinkbounc

The Hilton is in the south terminal at Gatwick, which is very convienient if you are flying with Virgin as it's very close.

The parking is now a bit of a pain apparently, If you booked with ABC Holidays Extra you now have to park in the north terminal car park which is about 20 mins away. If you booked directly with the Hilton you will end up in the south terminal car park, which of course is much closer.

The Hilton costs a bit more, but because it's in the south terminal and close to Virgin, which in turn, means its very easy to use twighlight checkin, to me it's worth the extra.

We were booked with ABC extras for the Hilton. Be careful as the parking is now with a different firm and not parking express. We complained and they gave us a seperate voucher for parking in P.E. and one for the hotel.

Hi mrshnn - if you book direct with Virgin Holidays you get to use the hotel car park right next door, very convenient.

The Hilton is a great hotel, so convenient and only a 4/5 min walk through their walkway at the rear of the hotel straight into to south terminal. Trolleys are available for luggage.

There is a fitness centre and a swimming pool onsite. We used the pool back in February and it was fun, and there are showers with shower gel and shampoo etc down at the pool too.

Room service is a little pricey (as is the bar;) ), but it's great to stay their overnight before you fly out, feels like your holiday is starting a day earlier.

Just to say that Mrs Dazzle is spot-on with her comments - we always count it as the first day of our holidays and parking right next to the hotel is an added bonus, it's so quick to get away when all you want to do is get home and plan the next trip!

I think the food/bar prices are pretty much the same as other 4* hotels and anyway you're on hoilday!

Best wishes

If there's just the 2 of you and you feel like splashing out, upgrade to executive. The rooms are in the new annex, are bigger and far better than the normal rooms with a fantastic bathroom and access (but not through ABC!!) to the exectutive loung.

Does anyone have the link to book direct with the Hilton ?

I can tell you a bit about the summer parking as we stayed at the Hilton a couple of weeks ago.

You check in & they give you a parking voucher which is for the summer parking located at the North terminal (I think in the winter you park at the hotel?). You leave your car keys, they park iyour car & give you a voucher. You get the shuttle back to the south terminal. Easy. Allow 30 minutes though.

Coming back is a bit more hectic. You have to get a bus (with your suitcases etc etc) back to the car park which is a bit of a pain & was v. busy when we used it on Saturday. (Yep, just back from Florida & v. depressed now!). However, we sent our 2 drivers on the bus to get the cars & walked back to the Hilton with our suitcases (only a couple of minutes walk) and they drove round to pick us up which was a lot easier.

Hope this helps!

p.s. we couldn't book ours through the telephone number Virgin gave us but I can't remember why!! I think it was because of the time of year or number in our party (we needed 2 rooms).
