To maximize our Disney experience, because we are driving for the first time, and since no one ever wants to leave the most magical place on earth ......

On our last day at DW, we will check out of CSR in the morning and check into the Hilton at Downtown Disney (1751 Hotel Plaza Blvd, Lake Buena Vista) in the afternoon.

We want to stay at the park that last night until it closes (which has Extra Magic Hour until 2am). Then crash at the Hilton for a few hours, get up next day, and then start the drive for home.

To save money, the lowest rate we found does not let you pick a room category. It says "room will be assigned at check-in".

We are only 2 adults and don't care if we get 2 doubles, a queen, or a king for 1 night. Not interested in a Dowtown Disney view or water view or patio. Those would be nice surprise, but we won't be there that long to really enjoy.

We just wanted to make sure we were eligible for the Extra Magic Hours so we could play under the stars till the wee hours of the morning. That's why we picked this Hilton.

With that said, has anyone opted for "room assignment TBD"? If so, what room did you get?

DH is worried that it will be the worst room at the hotel - not updated or refurbished, with a single light bulb on a string hanging from the ceiling.

I am more hopeful and think the room will be fine, like any normal room at the Hilton, but it just will be an interior view.

The savings is about $35 (before taxes) to have the room assigned at check-in.

Would the cost savings be worth it to you in this situation? Would you chance it?

Thanks!

First, yes - you do get the EMH.

Second - I don't think there are any of "those" rooms at the Hilton, so your DH can relax. :thumbsup2 We have stayed in both king and double rooms and they were very nice and clean. The beds are heavenly! :cloud9:

So go and enjoy!

Don't you get the benefits of the Disney room on the day you check out too? I think you get the EMH on the day you check out of your CSR room.

Although I am not 100% sure of the late night EMH since it goes until 2am. Usually they say things like "until midnight of the day you check out". But the late EMH goes until 2 am. But once you are there, they can't kick you out, can they?

My only point is that you may not need to do the Hilton for the EMH. If you can find another place cheaper (like Buena Vista Suites, etc.) you could do that.

Hopefully someone else who knows for sure will comment about the EMH on check out day.

Maggie

Not sure on the EMH but IMO there are not any bad rooms at the Hilton. We stayed there one night a couple of years ago and it was very nice.

If you are checking out of a Disney resort on your last park day, you will get the EMH priviledges that entire day. So it won't really matter where you park your head that night. Like someone else mentioned, there might be a "til midnight" type of rule, but it's not like they send out a posse looking for people around midnight!!

Call Coronado Springs and ask them if you will have EMH priviledges the day you check out. I'm pretty sure they will say yes... then it won't matter where you sleep that night!!.............................P

The Hilton at DTD is the only DTD hotel that DOES have EMH. The rooms are VERY nice, my sister stayed there for a convention last year and I took a look around. Very nice indeed! Do it, I would. :)

The Hilton is really nice...so don't worry and really since you are only going to sleep there far a few hours does it matter about the room they give you??? If you are looking for a cheaper room for the night why not move to one of the value resorts? There is a room only discount available through mid August. You can also get a discount if you have AAA.

Your on-site resort privledges do go until midnight of your check out day. I seriously doubt that at midnight any of the CM's in the park are going to even notice. They would have to actually read....up close ....your KTTW.
