We just got back from WDW today and I just wanted to share a few things regarding the Hilton. We did not have a good experience with this hotel, though I do have to say the location was wonderful---directly next to the walkway leading to DTD.
We arrived Friday night--check in was simple and quick. When we went to the room, it was hot and stuffy. We turned the temp down and found quickly it would only go down to 68---we sleep with it much cooler. The remote control for the tv didn't work, so we called maintenance. They came and tried to give us another, which also didn't work, so the guy had to do some work in the room to get it going. He agreed the temp was maxed out at 68 and when we asked about a fan, stated there were none available. Oh well....
The next day, we come to the room in the afternoon to hear beating and banging from the room above us. We were trying to rest, so we called the front desk to be told it was going to last until 6:30.
The next day, our last day there, same thing. THIS time they offered to move us, but heck---we're leaving at 7 am the next morning. I was not going to pack up, unpack and repack. They are doing remodeling on many, many rooms and nothing much could be done. The did give us the last night in the room for half price. I uderstand repair and remodeling has to be done, but then don't book rooms around that area! I pay to stay in the room 24 hours a day---I should be able to expect it to be quiet. In addition, we were returning to the room at 2:30 after being out of it since 7am to find it not cleaned. I was a bit irritated about that as well.
Upon return to the room later that evening, our keys wouldn't work. We walked down the hall and called the front desk. I didn't want to go DOWN there, afraid I'd lose my temper and act a fool. The security came about 10 minutes later to let us in.
I realize things happen, but it just seemed to be one thing after another. There just didn't exactly paint themselves in glory with me. We usually stay at a Disney resort, but this was a spur of the moment trip without kids. I thought this might be a more adult atmosphere. I was just really disappointed with this facility.
We did NOT, however, let this spoil our trip! After all, we're at Disney! Vacation is what you make of it. It was only one aspect. I just wanted to share about the room, as I didn't see much written about this one on the disboards.
