DH has a conference in June at the Hilton in DTD so we will be staying there for at least 3 nights. We will be in Orlando for a total of 5 nights. Should we leave the Hiton and stay at an on site resort for the last 2 nights (we are leaving early on the last day)? We have stayed at Pop Century and All Star Movies in the past which my kids loved (DD4, DS6). Are these the best on site resorts for small children? Will the Hilton be fun for this age group? What benefits do you get at the on-site resorts compared to the Hilton?

Thanks for your help
Beth

Hi,
We stayed at the Hiton a couple of years ago and if I remember correctly the Hilton features in the early entry to the parks, complementary transport to the parks,it's also within walking distance to DTD (2mins) and also has disney character dining. :thumbsup2

It is a nice hotel with a good pool but I don't think it is as family orientated as a disney hotel would be. Our kids were teenagers when we were there and they really enjoyed our stay there.

We had the buffet breakfast which wasn't exactly Ponderosa prices but...wow there was loads to eat, good quality food ...I ate so much that I didn't eat for the rest of the day:rolleyes1

We stayed there a couple of years ago and liked it. It was our first trip to WDW so we had nothing to compare it to. Last year we stayed at CSR and liked it too. Onsite properties have the Disney "feel" that you can't get anywhere else but we spent so little time there that it really didn't matter. The Hilton gift shop had everything Disney (same stuff sold at the parks, including tickets) so it excited the kids and gave them enough of a Disney feel but they were a little younger than yours. The great thing about the Hilton is that you get some of the same perks as onsite - extra magic hours and tranportation. Also, I thought we'd have shorter travel times when we stayed onsite but that wasn't the case at all. Overall, we liked the Hilton and would stay there again as we don't spend much time there. If you usually take time to sit by the pool and hang out at your hotel then I would definitely stay onsite. Have a great trip!

Thanks for the help. We decided to spend our last 2 nights at CBR - DS6 fell in love with their pool!

We stayed a couple of nights at the Hilton DTD in one of the Executive Suites. it was really nice, but it wasn't Disney. You get all of the perks, like EMH and transport, plus you can walk to the Disney Marketplace . . . . but it's not a Disney resort.
