Could anyone give me some feedback on any recent stays at the Hilton Anaheim? How is the cleanliness? The walk to/from Disneyland? I have read they offer ART for going to and from the parks but how long is the walk? I'll be traveling with a 3 year old and a 5 year old so we would be going back and forth in the afternoon for naps. Trying to determine if it would be do-able or if the distance is pushing it. Thanks in advance for any input!! :)

Not up to Hilton's standards....needs some major renovations. Googlemaps says that it is 1.1 miles to Disneyland entrance....doable, especially in the morning, but coming home already worn out from the parks, maybe not as doable. BUT...it is across the street from the Toy Story parking lot, you could walk over there in the morning and hop on Disney's transportation to the park, and come and go from there in the afternoon. ART is another option, costs a couple dollars per person per day, but would have the least walking.

We stay there frequently. We usually stay on the Lanai floor. We've never had a "dirty" room. We enjoy it. Distance - It is a walk. My daughters usually take the Toy Story buses.

We stayed there about 2 months ago and really liked it. The room was not dirty at all. The Starbucks is packed in the morning. The walk to the parks was easy; we took Lyft back. Waaaaaayyyyyy better than ART.[/QUOT

What is lyft and where do you go to ride it? Is it a bus? Do they pick you up at the hotel directly? Does it cost?

Sorry!! Lol, I can't get the hang of quoting and then writing under the post! But my question is above: What is lyft and where do you go to ride it? Is it a bus? Do they pick you up at the hotel directly? Does it cost?

It's been a while since I stayed there, but it's our favorite place to stay when visiting Disneyland. Even back in 2013 it could have used a little bit of renovation, but our rooms were clean, the beds were comfortable, and we felt we got a great value. They do charge for parking though like most of the hotels in the area. We stayed at the Courtyard once and they charged for parking. It's maybe the second largest hotel in California by room count. You could have a long walk to your room from the elevator.

When we stayed it was around Thanksgiving 2012 and there was a basketball tournament at the Anaheim Convention Center Arena. I hadn't even thought about it, and Cal (which won the tournament) was there. So was Rice, whose head coach at the time was the former Cal head coach. I even saw the Cal head coach (Mike Montgomery) there after he won the tournament as well as one of the Cal basketball administrators (former assistant coach Jay John). I was trying to follow the game on ESPN from my phone while watching World of Color, but my battery ran out. I figured they won since they were up by 20 with 2 minutes left, but I figured I'd make sure. It was strange too as we were on the same floor as several of the teams in the tournament, and there were piles of team jerseys in front of doors. I guess they were supposed to be cleaned. I think we paid something like $99/night since there was no major convention going on. The basketball tournament was partially sponsored by the hotel and I think it was the official tournament hotel where all the players stayed.

We booked it again in summer 2013. I got a special rate of $59/night and when we checked in they put us on the Lanai floor. My kid loved being able to run around. The only issue was that there was an international junior roller hockey tournament going on a Huntington Beach, and teams participating were all over including the Hilton Anaheim. Again, some were piling uniforms, and some were even drying them on chairs on the Lanai area.

Overall I like it. It's not perfect but I think it's a decent enough business class hotel. If there's no major convention going on the rates can be really low. They're not specifically a tourist hotel, but they treat Disneyland visitors well. It's a longer walk to the park entrance, but it's not too bad in the morning and there will be lots of company on the walk over. On the way back it's easier to just take the Toy Story shuttle and then walk from the lot. I've talked to drivers, and there's no obligation to park at the lot to take the shuttle. They all know about it and Disney seem to be OK with it. The other thing is that the Starbucks in the lobby can have ridiculous lines in the morning. I didn't go for the coffee since they have in-room coffee, but they might run out of certain pastries.

Lyft is a national "ride sharing" service like their competitor Uber. At one time it was essentially an outlaw taxi service that had questionable legality until it was made legal by California law. Theoretically one was only sharing the use of private vehicles like you might advertise for people to share a ride to Portland from Los Angeles, but in effect most of the drivers were operating like taxis without a taxi license.

Lyft and Uber only operate though their smart phone apps. You request a ride via the app and a driver will pick you up like a taxi would. Then you tell the driver where you want to go. Payment is only through the credit card that you use on the app. The price may also vary. They have something called "surge pricing" where the price can change due to demand. If you need a ride from an NBA game or on New Years Eve/Day it can get really expensive.

Thank you for the info bcla!! I appreciate your help!

Uber and Left are really more "ride sourcing" companies. Actually the route may be requested and a price given up front. It's basically a taxi service, although some of Uber's services are "black cars" which are licensed car service vehicles or limos. Taxi companies hate it because there isn't the licensing needed like for taxis.

We enjoy our stays at the Hilton. Do check to see if there will be a convention going on during your stay. That can mean a very crowded lobby area, crowded escalators, and crowded elevators during convention hours. Pre-order using the Starbucks app to avoid the lines and crowds there. The front desk staff have always been very nice to us, providing upgrades when available. Once we got a corner room with a view of the fireworks and WOC (far away, but it was still a view!). The walk to the parks isn't bad for us (and goes right by Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf), but with little ones, I would take ART or the TS buses.

It's been a few years since we stayed there, but our room was beautiful. We had a corner room so one side was a view of the pool and the side facing CA was an entire wall full of windows! We could watch the fireworks if we were in our room and of course it was beautiful at night with everything lit up. I agree about the walking, the morning is fine but by evening we were dragging. We didn't use the toy story lot for some reason even though I knew about it...

Thanks for all the replies! I'm thinking it may be a little far with little ones for the next trip we plan, but I'll definitely keep this hotel in mind for the future when my daughters get a little older and there is less back and forth to the hotel throughout the day :)

Thanks to the OP for posting this. I am torn, we are currently booked at the Homewood Suites convention center again. We really loved it there - I saw a deal for the Hilton Anaheim and thought about changing. Is it worth it? Trying to google map the walk and it doesn't look much shorter?

Remember, if you give up Homewood Suites you loose the amenities like free hot breakfast, free dinner & drinks during the week and the fully equipped kitchen. I would certainly not give all that up for a normal Hilton room...

Yes I called to see how many breakfast vouchers we would get (if we book 1 or 2 rooms as HH gold members), im thinking you're right even if Homewood is slightly more we just loved that family suite for the 6 of us and the full sized fridge! Though 2 rooms would give us 2 restrooms which is always nice with a big family...

Oh nice on the HH gold! You DO have a tough decision :) 2 restrooms or more space? I honestly don't know what I'd pick between those!

FYI, Lyft and Uber are not really workable with kids in carseats for transportation to and from the parks.

They could theoretically be used with lockers. Personally I think the walk is short enough to not worry about it.
