Has anyone stayed at the Hilton Anaheim? It is right beside the conference center. Is it a long walk to Disneyland? I called the front desk and they have shuttles but if they go to 5 hotels that can be time consuming.

Any thoughts?

Thanks in advance!
Amy

I have stayed there twice. It's a nice hotel, very big, modern rooms and quite comfortable. I have walked from there to the park, going down Harbor it took us about 15 minutes to get to the front gate. This was two 25 y/o's, no kids. Not a bad walk at all, especially in nice weather.

Starbucks right in the building for a quick breakfast and there are some other restaurants that I have never been to.

Let me know if you have any other questions.

Did you take the shuttle? Was it crowded? Did it go to several hotels? Did you have trouble getting the shuttle?

Thanks
Amy

I did not take the shuttle. One time I walked and the other time I only stayed there at night, so I drove from the park.

Based on the ART website (Anaheim Resort Transit), which may or may not be the shuttle you are talking about, it only stops at the Convention Center, Hilton, Gardenwalk and Disneyland. But I have never used that so I am not entirely sure.

It is possible that several of the hilton properties out there use a shuttle amongst them. The hilton properties around there are the Hilton, Doubletree, Homewood Suites, Hilton Garden Inn and Hampton Inn. All of these are within a mile and I can't imagine them taking too long, but having never ridden it, I wouldn't know.

The walk wasn't all that bad to be honest, I thought it was quite fast.

I have stayed at the Hilton several times. Its a very nice hotel but huge. Ask for a room near the elevators so you don't end up walking a long ways down hallways.

We usually drove to Disneyland as we had AP's so parking was free. We have rode ART a few times and it was fast and efficient. I felt the walk to Disneyland was much too far especially with kids. Not that big of a deal going but when its late and you're tired that walk gets to be way too long.

Parking at the Hilton is in a garage and they do charge. If you have a high profile vehicle you will need to pay extra for valet and they leave it up front by the enterance or use the Sheratons parking lot right next door.

You can use ART from the Hilton or next door at the Sheraton or directly across the street at the Marriot based on stop times.

This is our favorite hotel, price-wise. We were pleasantly surprised by the redecorating on our last trip, it had been a while. The peach/teal Miami Vice look is gone, as is the center fountain, replaced by a large bar with large screen tv's. The staff is always very helpful and friendly, and whether we book directly or through Priceline, it's always a great value.
As far as parking, it's only a few more dollars, 2 or 3?, extra for valet, so that's what we do. Most of the time we take a cab to the parks. Cab runs 7-10 dollars each way. The cabs are supposed to drop you off at Downtown Disney, we've already complained to Disney about taking away the Harbor taxi stand, but we asked to be dropped off at the IHOP on Harbor, and that worked. Just a walk across the street. When we did take the shuttle, we purchased our ART tickets at the kiosk in front of the hotel. The shuttles ran frequently over Easter weekend, and we never had a problem with them being overcrowded. At the end of Saturday night, the line to return to our hotel was very long, and after a bus was filled, they stopped loading before people had to stand, and there was another bus a minute behind to load the rest of us!
We always return to the hotel in the early afternoon for a swim and a nap, so that the five year old doesn't miss the fireworks or get overstimulated and have a melt-down, (which can directly be related to adult-meltdown :sad2: , ) and it is not inconvenient to do that at this hotel.
The walk to DL is way too far. Disneyland Resort will tax everyone's stamina, so save the limited energies for enjoying the parks and attractions, especially if travelling with kids.
Have a great time!
