Hillary Supporters unite part 2; no bashing please

No flames from me. I believe all Hillary supporters have seen the way she was treated this primary. It just truly makes me sick.
I have MORE respect for Hillary then ever before because of the way she has handled herself in primary season. She is a fighter and I feel the most intelligent candidate out there.

I agree I would love to see her go Independent and say "sc**w you Democrat party" :thumbsup2

I agree with you 100%. She has been treated very badly, by fellow democats and the media. Even late night TV, like Leno, has made fun of her to the point that I can only refuse to watch them. In time, when people look back at how Hillary was treated, I think she will be honored as a trailblazer for equal rights.

Late night tv has made plenty of jokes about Barack as well, and that goes for Leno as much as anyone else.

Again, I ask...how has she been treated unfairly?

This matters not to you. So why ask? No matter what we say you will disagree with... correct :confused3 ..so why bother going through all of it. If you have not been able to see it or hear it or have not paid attention to all the media talk about it than there is not reason to go through it with you.

so I say lets move on. The conservatives see it and the HS see it and the independents have seen it as well and commented on it... the OS do not....so what else can we chat about.

I realize that I am biased but I saw the media often portraying Hillary in a negative manner while being kinder to Obama. I could see it in headlines and even stories. I don't think it was enough by itself to cause Hillary to lose but it certainly didn't help her.

It's too difficult to quantify such things and to point to specific example so I won't bother to argue the point. I remember raising my eyebrows a few times though but again I doubt that the press could by themselves cause her to lose.

By the way, this is no reflection on Obama! He certainly had nothing to do with that if it even happened.

Thanks for that last part. ;) I guess I understand what you're saying...it's just that I keep hearing that statement, and I honestly didn't see it. That's particularly true during the hour after hour after hour that they were rerunning the same Wright videos (which Faux still uses). I just don't see the bias.

I'm honestly not trying to start an argument or anything. I just haven't seen the 'unfairness" that everyone here keeps talking about. Have some commentators been harder on her than on Obama? Probably so. I know Keith Olbermann certainly has (and I'm a huge fan of his). But for every one that has been more favorable to him, I could just as easily point out people like Hannity that blast Obama on a regular basis while mostly giving her a pass.

Like I said, I'm simply trying to understand it. If the party has been unfair to her, there should be something that you can point to and say, "See...this is unfairly biased towards Obama". I just haven't seen anyone say anything other than in general terms, here or in the media. So since so many here seem to have that belief, I thought I would ask directly. Honestly...no alterior motives here.

ETA: And it does matter to me, as we're both supporting candidates with very similar platforms that stand for many of the same things...and the Democrats will be facing a third Bush term in January '09 if we can't get past our issues. If you feel the party has treated your candidate unfairly, I am honestly concerned about that, and want to know why you feel that way.

I know you were not trying to make any trouble....but it makes no sence to go into. If someone else wants to answer it for you that is fine but sorry I just dont want to have to. Makes for a waist of time IMO....

Just one thing, you bring up Hannity as someone who's been meaner to Obama. Someone like that is simply going to be harder on the one he considers the bigger threat. He is certainly no friend of Hillary's and would be all over her if she was the leader.

I was really speaking of the Liberal or fair press (if such a thing actually exists).

Late night tv has made plenty of jokes about Barack as well, and that goes for Leno as much as anyone else.

Again, I ask...how has she been treated unfairly?

In my oppinion she has been hammered by media. SNL's skit showing Hillary getting hard questions, while the press flirted with Barack. I believe this is correct. It has been the snowball effect everywhere else. If she were a man, she would be hailed for all her hard work.

As far as I am concerned, even Leno making jokes about Hillary's sex life, refusal to give up, being power hungery, are all wrong. I wouldn't like comments or jokes about ones race either. It's a fine line, people should be outraged. The media could turn on anyone and spin things against them.

Google the Obama interview with Brian Williams. To paraphrase, Williams was throwing Obama softballs throughout the interview instead of focusing on serious issues. I really could care less why Obama sometimes doesn't wear a tie.

All I really can say is that if the public demands fareness for Hillary, it could mean fareness for all down the road. They could spin things negatively on Obama once he goes up against McCain.

This is a tough question....who do you feel is better to handle terrorism...Obama or McCain ?

I hate to say it but at this point McCain. That is putting aside the years at war.

I feel Obama is not strong enough...wow 55% said McCain and 34% says Obama....just on CNN.

Many late night jokes kid about his bowling skills, or other funny light things. I have heard them, over and over attack (in their jokes) Hillary's character.

They had a media expert on CNN, who said it was a disgrace on how Hillary has been treated. So there are many out there who see this. I'm really outraged. If she were a man, it would be a differnt level of respect.

Like I said earlier, the favorable attention could be fickled.

Anybody who was awake and paying attention knew that Hillary was mistreated by the media and the Democratic party. Even the media and 1/2 of the Democratic party knew it. If anyone needs that explained to them I would suggest they watch someones DVR's from the past 6 months. They made fun of her body, clapping, laugh, smile, husband, child, clothes, voice, demeanor, called her calculating (men are planners), called her cold (men are in charge of their emotions), called her shrill, constantly mentioned every gaffe made by Bill, and went from there to just being cruel on many occasions. Now at the end are implying her supporters are racists and that her ego is the only reason she wants all of the votes counted.

Also, from the beginning the newscasters painted her as a women obsessed with power, ambition, who only rode her husbands coat tails waiting for the day to claim the Presidency. Every mention of her was prefaced with comments such as these. Very vile and sexist. Her role as first lady was degraded and laughed at. She was portrayed as fake on SNL while Obama was the one who didn't need the mask on Halloween. And these are just the events that happened at the beginning of the campaign. They continued and got worse each week, remember the pantsuit jokes? Thigh jokes? These jokes weren't on Jay Leno, they were on Chris Matthews show on MSNBC and other cable news stations that are traditionally liberal. Not Fox.

One more thing, if the media choose to they could have spun the whole Rev Wright thing to portray Obama as a really bad person. He could have been portrayed as a David Duke type.

I was really speaking of the Liberal or fair press (if such a thing actually exists).

But I've seen him praised right here on this thread. :teeth: I'd also point out Glenn Beck and others that have largely ignored Hillary have been praised here...even Bill-O. :lmao:

Seriously...I watch MSNBC just about exclusively, and outside of Olbermann I haven't seen a terrific bias one way or the other. They hammered Obama over the Wright thing, and have jumped on him at other times as well. There hasn't been a major bias that I've seen. If anything, there has been more negative coverage of Obama, specifically because he was the frontrunner.

Leno makes jokes about everything, including Obama's "elitism" and everything else. You can't take things like that personally, or you'll go nuts. :teeth:

I saw Williams' interview, and yes, it was a relatively soft interview. So? Has Hillary had to explain, in detail, how she would solve the health care crisis without raising prices in every interview she's had? :confused3 Would I prefer that reporters actually acted like reporters? Absolutely. But they haven't been doing that for the past 6 years and 6 months, so why start now?

But while I don't agree that the press has been overly unfair to Hillary, I do appreciate your answering the question. :thumbsup2 I am curious though about the comments that the party has somehow been unfair to her, as well, so I hope someone will answer that question at some point.

Well said!

If Hillary had a rev Wright in her past she would have been forced out of politics. Even though some believe Obama came under fire for his attending this church for 20 years, I believe they went leasy on him.

Has anyone asked Obama, since he denouced Wright, if he could make the same statement that he never heard the Rev speak the way we all did. Obama did sit in the pews for 20 years, that is a long time to never have heard anything. Does anyone believe Obama?

Let's not forget Bill Aryes. The media doesn't have this on the front burner either. The main topic of the media is that Hillary doesn't have a chance.

Can you (or someone) tell me how Hillary has been treated unfairly? :confused3
.

It doesn't matter what we, HS or even other people say, you will see it your way. You don't like Hillary so you won't see how unfairly she has been treated.

Just like we, or I will say I, don't see Obama as better then McCain right now and nothing you say will get me to see it your way.

Why don't you just let us Hillary supporters talk about our opinions without having to explain them :confused3

Hammered him? More like made excuses for him. If by hammered you mean showed the actual clip of what happened, yes they actually reported the news for a short while. The rest of the time was spent explaining why it all meant nothing. Do you watch Hardball? He has been cruel to Hillary. If you didn't see it that way then we are from Venus and Mars because his cruel treatment of Hillary has made me gasp out loud on occasion. Before this all began I did not like Hillary but unfairness brings out the Mom in me.

I agree with you! Oh if Rev Wright was in Hillary's past people would be burning her at the stake.

I personally think the GOP is loving how the media is being easy on Obama and swiping things under the rug. Wait until the general starts up, I think Obama will get the kitchen sink and more thrown at him and I seriously doubt he will be able handle that.

Let's not forget about his loving wife  and her comments and views.

Oh yes, I see a very muddy general campgain in the future and Obama will not know what hit him.

Where were all these comments? :confused3 Who was making fun of any of those things?

Are you saying they should have? Do you think he is really a "David Duke type"?

Because the media hasn't fully blown this up, I can't determind if he is a David Duke type.

Maybe if they pushed him with hard questions on this issue I wuld feel more comfortable with Obama. All the doubts that I and many others have will be played on by McCains people.

Where were all these comments? :confused3 Who was making fun of any of those things?

If you have never heard any of the words I used in my post associated with Hillary during this campaign I can only assume you are not informed.
