Hillary Supporters unite part 2; no bashing please

Thats the worst kind of racism of all, self depreciating racism.

I don't think so...not necessarily. For example, hypothetically if I didn't feel the woman running had a chance to win (because she was a woman) and I wanted a Democrat in office, I might vote for the man who is a Democrat instead if I liked his platform just as well. I don't think that would make me sexist, but just a realist. I'm not saying that's the way I'd personally make my decision, but people do. And in this case I wouldn't have anything against a woman (even that woman) as president. But this is supposing all things are equal. Not the situation I feel we are in right now if that makes any sense. I'm just being devil's advocate.

However going back to the original question, for the most part I'd agree that the person is probably racist.

I know someone at work who is pretty much a 'smart cookie"...she is convinced that Obama is a secret Muslim.

DH's aunt and uncle (very bright people) announced that they heard in Sunday School that Obama was a secret Muslim. We tried to set them straight, but they weren't having it. Another case of religion getting involved in political arenas where it doesn't belong. I was glad to hear at least it wasn't their minister spreading that story.

What to watch for in West Virginia

Wheeling, Parkersburg and Huntington, along the Ohio River, are three of West Virginia's population centers and helped President Bush to two wins in a state that long had been a Democratic stronghold in presidential politics.

Strong showings in those communities would be used as evidence in the Clinton campaign's argument that Obama has weaknesses that would make him a vulnerable Democratic nominee.

Hillary creaaaaaaaaaaamed him in those 3 areas!:thumbsup2

Wheeling 100%
Clinton 58
Obama 36

Parkersburg 100%
Clinton 67
Obama 26

Huntington 100%
Clinton 64
Obama 30

BTW.....Now with 81% in

Clinton 67%
Obama 26%

mmmmmmmmmmm good point! But you are not voting for her because you dont think she will win....That would be the overiding influence. You would be NOT not voting for her just because she is a woman.

:upsidedow

I am sure that 'The winability effect' is part of most peoples reason they vote.
For instance Dennis Kuchinach, had some GREAT ideas...but the buzz was that he cant win. I am sure many of the earlier primary voters wante dhim, but thought he couldnt win so voted for someone else.

That's wonderful!!! Hillary! Hillary! :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

was watching NBC this morning and heard this about WV: "Obama discounted the State." Interesting wording.

She's expected to pull big there so no one from the Obama camp is going to care about the lead size. Right now cnn.com is reporting a huge lead but I'm sure it'll close quite a bit by in the morning when everything is in.

I stand corrected. That is a huge lead to have and if I'm understanding everyone... WV can be a swing state?

I get it. You're saying you tired of people like, well, me lecturing you about who you should be voting for. I can understand that. My apologies.

Don't get me wrong I think you are a decent and reasonable person :flower3: but yes I am tired of being 'lectured' about voting for Obama when my candidate is still in the race.
Grant it, it doesn't look too good for her but as long as she is still fighting then she has my FULL support.

Once the fighti is over I will have to think long and hard and come to the decision of what to do within myself :)

The Obama supporters and the media have been calling for Clinton to drop out for a long time. It's not even like Obama is ahead by all that much. It's really a narrow lead. As long as Hillary is in it, I will support her. And I do feel that she is more electable.

It can be a swing state - but not with Obama on the ticket....... At least not without Hillary on it as well.....

True - its EXTREMELY close. Unprecedented.

In fact, if the dems had rules more straight forward - like (shudder) the republicans - she'd be the nominee by now! This is according to George Stephanopolis on Imus this morning. He also spoke about how the caucus process was pre-disposed towards Obama. But then again - those were rules - albeit - stupid rules! ;)

If anything, for the future - the caucuses need to be thrown out.

I agree, the caucuses should be thrown out. Caucuses are hard for working people & senoirs to attend. So really, in caucus states many people are not resprented.

On an unrelated question...
Is it me, or does Michelle Obama always look mad?

I don't consider you one of the people who is doing the lecturing, coming here to "correct" things :teacher:. Sure, you've stood up and said that Hillary Supporters should, as Democrats, support the nominee if that nominee is Obama. So have I.

Wow! I knew that Hillary would win WV by a large margin, but I was surprised that she won by over 40 points. Holy cow! BTW, did you see that 15% of the people who voted in the Republican primary voted for Huckabee and Paul? You gotta really hate a candidate to come out and vote against him in a pointless election.

I see it too.

I'd like to see her in a setting not in the campaign. It could just be that in the campaign, she's in a defensive mode...... Hillary came off "mad" during the first presidential campaign - and she's not that person any more .......

Well, Edwards got 7.3% yesterday. I think it's actually easier to vote against someone in a pointless election than one that counts.

Congrats on a big win, folks!

Though I do have to say...

Edwards - 7%?

What's up with THAT?

:scared1:

I voted for Kucinich in the meaningless Florida primary as did my DH. I still believe Kucinich's ideas would bring about the change we need in this country. But this is the tv age and a short, odd looking little man is not going to win. Even if, as my nephew remarked upon seeing Kucinich's wife, "the man is a god".

I didn't come around to Obama until close to Super Tuesday and that's only because I'm willing to roll the dice with Obama. I don't know what he'll do in office. I just feel we need a new direction (as do 81% of the American public) and that new direction is more likely to come from Obama.

And, really, I hate kool-aid. It is sickeningly sweet. :scared:

That means "we will vote for anyone but Obama"

Some people for whatever reason do not like Hillary. That is a fact, but 7% of those people came out to vote for Edwards because they cannot stand Obama either. If Obama is the nominee, look for a high turnout writing in Hillary. ;)

I think the Edwards vote was to help keep his name in the forefront. There are many people who would like to see him as the VP nominee again.
