If Obama gets the nomination his choice of VP will seal his fate. If he gives it to Richardson I think the HS will just stay home & not vote. IMO they will not vote for McCain they will just not vote in many cases.
I admit that I don't like Richardson either. I can't shake the feeling that he's a doublecrosser. :sad2:

Now if they will add Edwards to the list in some way, then we're talking! :thumbsup2

I get it. You're saying you tired of people like, well, me lecturing you about who you should be voting for. I can understand that. My apologies.
I personally think that you make excellent points but maybe some are perceiving them as threats? In other words, if you don't vote for Obama these horrible things will happen (which is likely true but...).

I don't know, I wish that we could just go after McCain!!!!

Unfortunately, after being unable to delivery his home state for Kerry I think it would be doubtful.

I'd like to ask a question.

Does not wanting to vote for Obama, because he is an African American, make one a racist?

I'll tell you why I'm asking this after a few answers.....

Hey DISUNIC, you keep asking about people from Obama’s past coming out to speak for him. Has Hatem El-Hady been mentioned yet?

To be honest, I don’t know much about this but apparently he was supporting Obama and had a dedicated webpage on Obama’s official website (since removed but if you Google you’ll find lots of links to this story and one website has screen captures of Obama’s page before the removal) and El-Hady had Michelle Obama listed as one of his friends. Apparently Michelle herself would have had to add to be his friend; El-Hady couldn’t just add Michelle as a ‘friend’.

Sorry if this has already been discussed. The reason I bring this up is because of the valid point you’ve made several times: The people that keep getting tied to Obama have very questionable pasts.. that is quite concerning. Where are the good people from his past stepping up to sing his praises? If they’re there – they need to be more vocal because I’m not hearing them.

IF Obama is going to be the democratic candidate – as the OS will have us believe- then we might as well begin searching to find out his hidden skeletons and learn more about the man before the Republicans throw it in the Democrats face for the general election. And the Republicans will throw it into the Democrats face. I’ve said this before… if the OS think that Hillary is not playing nice to Obama… just wait until the general election.

I would say yes.

The skin color does not make the man/woman. Usually when someone remarks that someone else is 'African American' they are pointing out that person is black. Since the color of one's skin should not have any bearing on how that person functions as a human being (ie: work, human character, lifestyle) than it should be an irrelevant consideration when the person is running for a position of election. If your sole reason for not voting for someone is because of their skin color - I would say that you are racist.

However, since you have a point to this question, I'm trying to see what that 'point' is and I'm wondering if you are trying to go somewhere else by saying "African American" and aren't implying skin color at all. I mean, it is possible to have a white 'African American'. There are white African's and if they were to move to the US and have a child then that white child would have US citizenship and could be considered 'African American' as that child's white parents are African.

And why do we use the term ‘African American’ anyways? A lot of my ancestry is from England but I don’t refer to myself as ‘English American’. If you are a US citizen, aren't we all just ‘American’? :confused3
(I apologize for my tangent but I’ve been wondering that lately)

Depends...What if you think Obama would make a terrible candidate in November, in part because he's black. Does that make you a racist or do you just think everyone else is a racist?

If that were the only reason, I would think so.

Wouldn't not wanting to vote for Hillary because she is a woman be sexist?

Interesting question. Is that the only reason?

Racism is prejudice based on race. If your decision is based on prejudice, I'd say yes it makes you racist.

But what if (for the sake of discussion) an African American who believes a black man doesn't have a chance to win this election, votes against Obama due to his race. Does that make him racist? I think this can be over analyzed.

Yeah Hillary!!!!:cheer2:

SARCASM ALERT!
You've made my earlier point! He's exactly right by saying the staffers are at fault. I believe he hasn't done ANY of this himself so of course he needs to blame others! They are the ones who've gotten him to this point and at least it proves he's honest by not taking credit for others work.;)

;)

Based soley on what you state, Yes.

Another Obama story NOT widely reported. This may be that the evidence has all disappeared.

Can everyone repeat after me....OCTOBER SUPRISE!!!!!!!
I think Hillary KNOWS more than we do, This staying in the race has nothing to do with her ego.

BTW.....We all sorta know about Obamas land deal with Rezco. BUT The Times of London has reported that a man named Nadhmi Auchi actually bought the house for Obama.
Nadhi Auchi is widely believed to have done much work for Saddam Husseins Secret Service.:rolleyes1

http://www.americanthinker.com/2008/03/obamas_iraqi_oil_for_food_conn.html

In spite of his British connections and an earlier 2004 US visit, Auchi was denied entry into the US in 2005. It is believed that he was attempting in 2005 to win a US visa with the help of Rezko several as-yet-unnamed Illinois political figures. Among Auchi's many international awards is a 2005 election as an "Honorary Member in the International College of Surgeons in Chicago, Illinois." Obama has denied trying to help Auchi.

If that were the only reason, I would think so.

Wouldn't not wanting to vote for Hillary because she is a woman be sexist?

I would say yes to that too based on the info given.

But what if (for the sake of discussion) an African American who believes a black man doesn't have a chance to win this election, votes against Obama due to his race. Does that make him racist? I think this can be over analyzed.
Thats the worst kind of racism of all, self depreciating racism.

Hey, has anyone noticed the size of Hillary's lead in WV?

Hey, has anyone noticed the size of Hillary's lead in WV?

With 44% of the votes in

Clinton 65%
Obama 28%

:thumbsup2

But the Media & Obama campaign dont count that since its all 'uneducated White people":rolleyes1

BTW only 27 % of Americans are college graduates.

WV is a purple state, mostly red, but can go Blue. It went blue 2x for Bill Clinton in the 90's.
Democrats who dont win WV, DONT become President.

Just sayin:rolleyes1

Hey, has anyone noticed the size of Hillary's lead in WV?

She's expected to pull big there so no one from the Obama camp is going to care about the lead size. Right now cnn.com is reporting a huge lead but I'm sure it'll close quite a bit by in the morning when everything is in.

Interesting question. Is that the only reason?

The reason why I asked the question is - my hairdresser tonight implied that she did not want to vote for him because he's black - he's muslim - he's a liar - etc.

She is a Hillary supporter. She asked me what I was going to do. I said - I have to vote for him - I'm a democrat.

She brought up the muslim thing. I said he wasn't one. She said - why was he wearing that outfit. I said because he was on a trip and was honoring that culture, etc.

So then she says - but I really don't like the republicans - so I said - then you have to vote for him.

She is really torn. I think what she is most worried about is reverse discrimination against white people.

Not saying she has a point - but it got me to thinking about the white blue collar vote. I don't know how Obama is going to win those folks over - not with their irrational thought processes..... And contrary to popular belief - Obama WILL NEED some Hillary supporters to vote for him.

In light of that - someone posted a link to an opinion piece several pages ago - I'd like to post it here in its entirety.

Obamites Pile on Clinton at Own Peril
By Froma Harrop

Many in the Obama camp, having outfoxed the apparently not-so-formidable Clinton machine, can't seem to get the hang of winning gracefully. They feel a need to drive a stake in Hillary Clinton's reputation, then dance. If they were smart, they'd heap praise on Clinton and let her finish out the race, however she chooses to do so.

That's sage advice, even though offered by Republican mastermind-turned-pundit Karl Rove. Treat Clinton shabbily, he says, and many of her supporters "will remember it by November."

Nonetheless, Obamites are throwing victory parties over the impending defeat of a fellow Democrat who has thus far pulled in over 47 percent of their party's primary and caucus participants. Some take a more direct approach. In anticipation of the West Virginia primary, college students for Obama were hurling insults at farmers and truck drivers holding signs for Clinton.

Meanwhile, Massachusetts Sen. Ted Kennedy, unable to contain himself, administered one last kick to Clinton's dignity by opining that the New York senator lacks the "real leadership" needed for the job of vice president. He said that Obama should pick someone who is "in tune with his appeal for the nobler aspirations of the American people."

So much for the nobility of aspirations held by his own state's Democratic primary voters, who preferred Clinton over Obama by 15 percentage points. Next door in Rhode Island, Rep. Patrick Kennedy dittoes Dad as an unwavering super-delegate for Obama -- this despite Clinton's 18-point win in that state's primary. It's as if the voters are invisible.

Disrespecting the nearly 17 million who have supported Clinton is politically unwise, but turning them into "the enemy" is insane. Last week's enemy was working-class white people. The Democrats can win without a majority of white voters -- as Obama strategists undiplomatically note -- but they can't win without a strong showing among them.

So Obama partisans do not help their cause by willfully misrepresenting Clinton's reference to "hard-working Americans, white Americans" as racist rather than as a poorly worded observation made in a state of utter exhaustion. The fervor of their outrage suggests that some regard the mere consideration of white people, particularly white men, as a demographic needing a special message is an act of bigotry. (That's as opposed to a thousand other racial and socio-economic groups that politicos routinely slice and dice.)

We now hear pained remarks from the Obama camp that many white men won't vote for any black. Oh really? No one was complaining during the early races in Iowa, Maryland, Virginia and Wisconsin, when most of the white male participants backed Obama. That was before the Rev. Jeremiah Wright ugliness became public.

Weirdly, Obamite triumphalism seems to be merging with the festivities on the Republican side. You can understand why the right would welcome what it prays is "the end of the Clinton era." Bill Clinton presided over the longest peacetime expansion since World War II. His budget surpluses put his so-called conservative predecessors and successor to shame. Wouldn't a vow to build on the Clinton legacy, rather than dismantle it, be a better tack for the Obama campaign?

By the way, Clinton's continued sparring with Obama does not hurt the Illinois senator's chances in November. It only crowds out Republican efforts along that line. Believe me, you'd rather have the Clinton version.

Obama can't beat John McCain without large chunks of Clinton's core constituency: women, Hispanics and the white working class. Dumping on their candidate is one step removed from dumping on them -- and some of the Obama people don't even bother with that step. Rove must be enjoying the show.

I am extremely disappointed with the Kennedy's.

I am extremely disappointed with the Kennedy's.

I am furious with Ted Kennedy, not for endorsing Obama but his comments about her being the VP. Something is going on there.

Yup. I still think if this were two men left, this close to the nomination - they'd form a unity ticket.

The reason why I asked the question is - my hairdresser tonight implied that she did not want to vote for him because he's black - he's muslim - he's a liar - etc..

Well she is right about 2 of the 3.
I dont believe that Obama is a Muslim at all. Not that it would make any difference. I do think it has more to do with his name.
But many people do believe this.:confused3 I know someone at work who is pretty much a 'smart cookie"...she is convinced that Obama is a secret Muslim.

I think what she is most worried about is reverse discrimination against white people.
Since the press has pounded in that he is getting 91/92% of the Black vote recently, I am sure many people are thinking the same. These are unheard #'s, and will scare some white people.

Not saying she has a point - but it got me to thinking about the white blue collar vote. I don't know how Obama is going to win those folks over - not with their irrational thought processes..... And contrary to popular belief - Obama WILL NEED some Hillary supporters to vote for him..
I dont think he can. But I dont believe that it is a 100% race issue. It more of a Elitist qualities and sitting listening to the Rev for 20 years BLAST America.

I am extremely disappointed with the Kennedy's.

I was never a fan. Even though Ted did once buy me a Beer in Reagan Airport.:lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

I was once stuck there waiting for a flight to PA. I saw this very old man (he really looks like hell in person) walking around the airport in a RED Polyester Leisure suit (in JULY):scared1: ....he looked familiar to me...but the suit was so odd...i couldnt place him.
He then asked me if I could read the Incoming flight Board for him, since he forgot his glasses. He was waiting to pick up his son. As I was talking to him, I realized who he was  . We got to talking and he bought me just 1 beer.!:lmao:

I am furious with Ted Kennedy, not for endorsing Obama but his comments about her being the VP. Something is going on there.

YUP...somewhow the Democrat leaders want to disinheret themselves from what have been their base for yeeeeeeeeeeeears!!!!

:confused3 Very odd

speaking of Rove

Rove refuses call to testify under oath

A House Judiciary Committee deadline passed Monday with former White House adviser Karl Rove standing by his refusal to testify about allegations that he pushed the Justice Department to prosecute former Alabama Gov. Don Siegelman.

In his latest offer to settle the matter, Rove sent the panel a letter offering to respond to questions in writing, according to his attorney. But he reiterated that he would not testify publicly and under oath.

:rolleyes1
