I found this picture/caption on snopes. Can anyone verify the hand signal?

crossed.jpg

Picture shows that this guy has been thru Survival School. He's giving the sign of "coercion" with his left hand. These hand signs are taught in survival school to be used by future POW's to send messages back to our intelligence services viewing the photo or video. This guy was being coerced into holding hands with Hillary. Little did she know that he would tell us.

Origins (Snopes): We can only make some assumptions about this photograph for now: it doesn't appear to have been manipulated, it was probably taken at one of the military facilities Sen. Clinton visited (in Iraq, Afghanistan, or Kuwait) during Thanksgiving 2003, and the soldier pictured is presumably crossing his fingers because . . . he's not genuinely happy or excited about meeting Ms. Clinton. We don't yet know anything specific about when or where this photograph was taken, or who the pictured soldier is, though.

The caption describing "coercion" was only added after the photograph had already been circulating for many months and is just another bit of humorous commentary.

Damn, that's not the picture I wanted. Now I'll have to do a search. Here is the link of the story and picture.

I'm sure she can stick her tongue out like that, but how does she turn her face green?

LOL! Snopes doesn't allow their photos to be shared with other websites, that's why you got that big green nasty up there!

if that's true, i think that's sort of classless of the soldier. airforcerocks posted on here awhile back about how she had to shake oliver north's hand at work, and eventhough she wasn't thrilled about it, she handled herself appropriately.

I like Snopes too. Whenver I get those annoying forwards, I always reply with a link to Snopes.

I agree. The only one who looks bad in that photo is the soldier. It was hardly the appropriate behavior for a man in uniform.

Btw, can the Republicans find anything positive to say about the politicians in their party?

It's a rhetorical question as this thread is just further proof that they can't.

Btw, I certainly hope no future POW's use that signal since it would be pretty obvious to the enemy what they were doing.

Nice job, soldier.....

You know, I gotta feeling this guy had no idea this pic would go anywhere and just thought he was funny.

I'm really wondering how the military would be able to keep any universal signal a secret anyway.

WELL OF COURSE the liberal's think that it's "classless" and don't like it! DUH!

Now, on the other hand, if the only thing that was different about the picture was that it was President Bush instead, THEN they'd think it was hysterically funny.

Oh, by the way we3luvdisney, I completly agree with your "Vote Democrat--It's easier than working" But you could also substitue "thinking" with "working".

On a similar theme. How long do you think that it'll take the weenie libs to start blaming President Bush for conspiring with NOAA to get both of the tropical storms (possible hurricanes) to hit Florida so close together. This has to be another attempt on his part to raise oil prices or take over another country or some such drivel.

:D

Nice job of name calling.

Thank you, I learned it from the liberals.

well thanks for deciding my opinion for me, but no, i would think it was classless no matter who was in the photo.

i am not really a liberal. i am a democrat, but i am pretty conservative on some issues. i've also voted for republicans before. but thanks for assuming you know me. :wave2:

neaner neaner neaner to you also.

Wow, I post a picture, story and link trying to find out if this was true and I get blasted. I didn't say anything wrong about the liberals and democrats and people start jumping up & down

Peachgirl --- Gee, I'm sorry I asked the question, but I'm confused with your reply. What does, "can the Republicans find anything positive to say about the politicians in their party? It's a rhetorical question as this thread is just further proof that they can't." have to do with my question? It's a valid question & I think you need to lighten up. Not all posts deal with democratic bashing. ::yes::

Beast --- Actually others have said the same thing. I think Kerry fits into that category --- he thinks, changes his mind, thinks again, changes his mind, thinks again and changes his mind again ......

Hmm, I'll ask DH when he gets home. Only 15% of the Air Force, and (I think) 5% of the entire Armed Forces go through Survival School, so not many people would actually know. (I don't know if DH would/could confirm a hand signal, anyway. But I can always ask!)

I saw this picture elsewhere, too.

The quote Peachgirl made seems to make no sense. I think the story and picture are hilarious. Most of the military realize Hilary isn't really their friend--what better way to show that they know she's there for a photo-op? Peachgirl, most of your posts on these types of threads actually do deal with democrat-bashing--especially when it's in response to a Republican posing an honest intellectual question.

Oh please, with your insulting signature line, every post you put up is democratic bashing.

It's a valid question & I think you need to lighten up.

Thanks but I think you need to at least be honest about what you're doing. The wide eyed innocent role doesn't fit you well.

Take a look at the threads on this board. The vast majority are nothing but Kerry bashing threads. They're snippets of information taken from extremist websites and posted as fact, then discussed as though they are actually true. Just look at the responses to this thread, then tell me again that it's not an excuse to bash Kerry.

So, the natural question, seems to me, is don't you have something positive to say about the candidate you support for President? Or, is he such an horrific excuse for a President that the only way to make him look good is to run down his opponent?
