I found this on Associated Content and thought it was hilarious! It's about Disney Commandos, what they are and how to spot them.

I confess - I am a total commando. Are you?

Disney Commando Checklist

I should have known! The author is Robin, formerly Delswife on these boards. Miss you Wobin! She actually began her writing here on the boards with what some think ( me included) was the funniest trip report ever written. If you have time take a look at her blog. She is an amazing writer.

LYMI Wobin. . .

Please do not let my husband and kids see that article. I should be president of the Disney Commando Club. We still have 10 months before we go and I am already shopping for hand wipes and travel size toothpaste. I really do have a problem. On our last trip, I spent hours mulling over lists and this website for any last minute tidbit of info I could get my hands on. Mind you ,this was not my first trip to WDW. I have gone at least once a year my entire life. The biggest issue my family has with me is the "highlighter". When we arrive at each park, I always get a map and highlight rides, events, parades. As we complete each task, I mark it off the map. Is that so wrong? Last year, my husband did buy me a whistle before we left but threw it out the window on our drive down. I really hope there are others like me out there. We really are good people and we love our families. We just like to make sure we get as much of the Mouse as we can.

Oh my goodness, that is freakin' hilarious! I'm totally a commando!

:rotfl:

Guilty as charged, but one thing was missing in the pre-trip list: spending every waking minute on the DIS researching.

My mom is just like this! She might be on the boards reading this...hehe. But any trip we go on is like this! I'm the hidden mickey person! I got bored while student teaching (I am in college and am a senior...but I'm such a kid at 21!) and almost yelled out that I found a hidden mickey in the freckles on my arm!

Oh yeah...we're Disney nuts!

Bwahahahah :rotfl2: That's so me!!! I had to email that article to my sis-in-law, she's a total command too!!!!

One time... I couldn't get a Dole Whip because it wasn't on the schedule.

I kept trying to get my husband's attention, yelling... "Honey, here's the Dole Whips," and even though he did glance back at me a couple of times, (as he kept getting further away) he kept going... pointing to his watch, yelling, "Space Mountain."

oH YEAH!! I am a commando. I am always the first out of bed in mornings before daylight and rushing everyone to get dressed. I always want to be the first person in line at the parks for early entry. (Maybe i am just crazy??:confused3 ) I have spent hours and hours reading websites about the parks and reviews about dining and I started doing this 4 months before we leave for trip. I also made a list of everything that each person needs to pack and a seperate shopping list of what we need to buy.

...I used to be one, the trait was inherited from my DPs. Luckily we have all grown out of it and now do lots of strolling along, dawdling, etc. We like to sit on benches under trees around the lake at WS with a glass of wine and watch all of the Disney Commandos race by! :rotfl:

I haven't managed to shake some of the pre-trip signs, however. Still shriek for no reason, still count down in days (doing so for 2 trips at the mo'), still leave the sticky notes for things that should be common sense. :goodvibes

My favorite bit of the whole article:
9) They have built a temple of napkins, straws, plastic cups, pens, glitter and other things they picked up from the trip.
Don't forget the darn pins. I have mounds and mounds of pins!

That was sooooo funny - and yes, I was a commando in my last trip. This time we are going off season so hopefully it won't be as strict as the last one. Thanks for sharing!

Thank you so much for that commando list-I am certainly guilty as charged! Thankfully, I can laugh at myself! :rotfl:

Shhhhh....everyone be quiet now...there's a Disney commercial on tv :lmao:

I've already ordered some custom Minnie clothes for my DGD and our trip is over one year away. Hope she doesn't grow tooo much!!!
Last year, I never let anyone rest. We went to the Parks early in the am and returned late at night. DGD(2) held up great til the 7th day (she fell asleep at MK ....that was the only time she had an afternoon nap). It was ok though, we got to see the Pirate Tutorial while she napped!!!
:jumping1:

We have after 40 trips to WDW, have given up on the commando touring style. We've finally achieved the rank of relaxed, carefree, non scheduled vacations. Took this long but we discovered the secret of giving up the commando mode. Length of stay. Olden days of 4-6 night stays required the commando style, we learned that trips of the 10-12 night variety made the whole commando deal a moot point, we have plenty of time to just stroll and dawdle our way and taking non park days and enjoying the resort, pool and other activities a more relaxing vacation. We end each day there, not beat, and return home not needing a vacation from the vacation. Oh, the joy of leisure time on a Disney vacation, we actually see and find things normally missed by rushing around. Others still have the commando bug but the way around that is to stretch your stay, we figure alot of the cost of the trip is the travel down and back, might as well make it worth the while and lengthen the stay, we'll take one long stay over 2 short ones any day.

I am a total pre-trip commando: I let out the "high pitched squeal" often, usually follwed by "We're going to Disney World!" in what, I'm sure, must be a very annoying voice. :rotfl2:

Really, I can't help it! :confused3

Once I'm there, I actually tend to relax - I feel quite at home in the MK, refer to the castle as "home" and the other princesses as my "peeps." princess:

Family knows better than to stay with me unless they want to live Disney 24/7. I love the icons and theming at the Values, think every meal should be eaten with characters in the room, and wear a tiara every day. (I have several...)

If not a commando, certainly a Disney fanatic... and I wouldn't want to be any other way!:thumbsup2

What makes this so funny is I have done a number of the things on this list..just this morning!! ha ha. As a matter of fact I just sent my Mom an email (I wish I were kidding now ha ha) reminding her that in 10 days we can start checking the 10 day forecast...and I was serious!! :lmao:

I'm making my 5th trip in 6 weeks and keep changing my mind about how to attack the parks. I'm going without family but with a girlfriend.(She has been MANY times.) I don't have a park hopper this time and keep debating whether or not to add it ( we'll only be there 4 days). After reading the last post about not going commando I'm thinking about making this a leisurely vacation and not worrying about fitting EVERYTHING in. Just take my time, relax and enjoy!
Hopefully I won't change my mind AGAIN !!!:goodvibes

I am glad to see so many other commandos! :thumbsup2

(I had a hunch I wasn't alone, but it's good to have confirmation) :)
