I'm looking for your best ideas for a high school graduation gift. My nephews are graduating and I'd like to give them gifts they will remember years from now, but also something that isn't totally useless.

I have no idea. I wish I did. My neice is graduating with a 4.0 and we're so proud of her, but I can't think of anything special to give her.

She really just wants cash, and I will give her some, but I'm looking for something else.

I give all the nieces and nephews luggage when they graduate.

One of their other aunts gets a bunch of thier t-shirts from high school (you know, the football team, the school play and so forth) and cuts them and makes them into a quilt. It comes out beautifully but I am nowhere near that crafty.

No ideas here we just gave cash to dd and nephew. Although we are going to plan a "going to college" party.

My mom gave my dd a charm for her charm necklace, everyone else gave cash.

I'm not opposed to cash. My problem with cash is in 20 years they won't remember their Aunt gave them cash.

My sister is actually doing the quilt thing for them, it's a wonderful idea.

And they don't need luggage

We gave each of my nieces and my nephew cash and a dvd of pictures from their childhood. The pics started with the newborn pictures from the hospital and ended with their cap and gown picture. My husband spent a lot of time scanning (pre-digital age) and putting them to music.

My nephew, the new high school graduate, will receive his sterling money clip (with his initials) as soon as it comes in. It's just like the one his grandfather carried and his dad and uncles still carry. Just keeping the family tradition alive. :thumbsup2

As a Mom of a child who is graduating high school, money to help pay for college, books, laptops, clothes, college sheets, etc is always good.. But I understand that 20 years from now that he will not remember those gifts, but so many things will be lost in the next ten years that it makes a special gift difficult to get. Savings bonds or special coins might be something to consider. Since my son is an Eagle Scout, Regional President of Venturing and Vigil in the OA, we are getting him a special OA blanket for his bed.
