Our family of 4 (me DH, DD1 5 and DD2 2) returned yesterday from a magical time at DLP.
We booked the full board plus and we were really pleased. We've come back really full up from all the food we've eaten.
Hotel - Stayed at New York. Lovely clean hotel, Breakfast was yummy. We booked dinner at the Manhattan our first night using the Disney restaurant booking line around 6 weeks before travelling. When we arrived were turned away as they had a private booking closing the whole restaurant which had been booked a month before. Pretty frustrating as we had called to confirm all restaurants only 4 days before. Luckily the Park Side Diner had plenty of room, and was nice, but not the sit down relaxing dinner I had planned after a day of travelling. Have posted another thread separately but our media tablet appears to have been stolen using the Express Luggage service from the hotel
Studios Park - Much smaller than I expected (I've been to WDW 3 times pre-kids). Unfortunately the Studio Tour was closed the day we were at the park - Shame, this was the ride we were looking forward to. We went on all the kiddy rides which the girls loved. Ate in Restaurant des Stars - lovely food.
Disneyland Park - So magical for our 5 year old, which of course made it more so for us. We saw lots of characters. Ate in the Cowboy Cookout which was great, Walts which was lovely, but the service was too slow for 2 young children (and our girls are used to eating out), and Plaza Gardens which was good too. Loved the parade and the Dreams show at night, such a shame it is on so late. Spent lots of time in Fantasyland. Queued an hour at the Princess Pavillion yesterday, well worth every second when we finally got to see Belle, I still well-up remembering our eldest's reaction!
Cafe Mickey - Was good, but we were seated upstairs in the far corner by the window, so one of the last tables to be seen by the characters, and 4 of the 6 characters that were there were taken away before they got to us. The lady on the table next to us complained, and they returned within 20mins. Have to say that Goofy and Pluto were great, as when they were told to get a move on and go downstairs they said no, and made sure they finished all the tables.
Other guests - I was so worried about pushing/queue jumping before arriving at the resort. But I have to say we had no problems until we were getting in the lift at the station on the way home, when an English family tried to queue jump.
All in all a magical time with so many wonderful memories, but I don't think we'll be going back. Think I'd rather wait until our girls are a few years older and travel to WDW when they can stay up later and go on more rides.
Sorry if this review is longer than others, I've tried to keep it short and sweet!
