highs and lows from DLH 19/5 to 23/5

Afternoon all
I'm perched on a couch in the lobey of the DLH so I'm going to make the most of the hour we have before our taxi arrives and post my highs and lows.

Without further ado!

The lows:

Weather - it couldn't make its mind up! Hot one minute, lashing the next. We were very lucky in that we only got soaked once.

Crowds - attendance was a bit bigger then we anticipated.

Inventions - overpriced and shockingly sparse interaction. The food was of considerably lower quality then the Chuckwagon and La Cantina buffets. For charcter meals we will go to Cafe Mickey from now on.

That's it! Nothing major. Nothing to spoil things.

The highs:

My mother's reaction! She was so wowed and overwhelmed!

Dreams - still super!

Dining - more info to follow!

APs - best purchase I've made! We saved a huge amount!

The hotel - it is by far the most amazing place I've stayed! All of the lovely CMs were fantastic. The beds are superb. Breakfast was perfect (slight pancake, bacon and maple syrup addiction going on! )

In fact I loved it so much that I upgraded our surprise November trip! Contacted our travel agent yesterday! This is the start of an expensive taste!

Isn't it just a fab hotel? We were there yesterday in the bar and I was just dying to be back staying there. I WILL be back!

I forgot about Dreams but I really did love it. Hopefully they won't get rid of it.

Pity you didn't enjoy Inventions. If you're ever there on a Sunday you should try the Brunch.

No it was a bit too early for drinks (noon!) but we had waffles and tea. was lovely and relaxing.
had cocktails in HNY and Blue Lagoon at a more sensible hour

We ate at Inventions for dinner on a previous trip and I loved it. the only other buffets I can compare it to though are Restaurant des Stars and Plaza Gardens; and it's the most expensive and they're the cheapest so it's hard to compare. but I think Kizzy has tried some others at the hotels.

Personally I wouldn't again. Not a great selection! Nothing labeled on the food tables and the characters barely signed the books! Didn't meet Mickey! And we waited.

Actually I noticed that the labels were all wrong too. A same in Restaurant des Stars.

There were none Monday night! We had to play guess the meat! The risotto was yum and the cheesecake but I found the rest to be a bit meh.

I would by all accounts still do brunch as it sounds much, much better. TR should be started early next week Ugh the weather was just a bit disappointing but hey we were still in DLP and I suppose its a good spot to be if it has to be raining.
I don't know if Mam would go back - she was awed by it all but it really took alot out of her. She was enviously eyeing up the mobility scooters! And at that we were taking our time!

It was fantastic!! No one knows except me though I'm not telling them until we pull up outside! I keep saying to DH "I just wish we could afford it, it would save you so much walking and pain"!!! And he loves his coffee so the Nespresso machine will be going flat out!

I know Jo but I just knew I had to try and manage it again!! I emailed the TA back and forth and was quite happy with the price so I rang before we left yesterday and paid the initial deposit fee. Cannot wait to see their faces when they realise!!
It does mean we wont get to go camping for as long this summer but we have a beautiful stretch of river where you can camp for free nearby so we'll do a couple of short camps there and head over the west for a couple of nights at some stage in July too and to be honest they love the camping so going a couple of times for a night or two will be a great adventure!
I had a look at the budget for November and the money we saved for flights/transfers for our trip next year will help towards the cost of upgrading. Where theres a will theres a way!
