Because Jon & Kate are both attention *****s who have put the well-being of their children second to their need for attention.
Instead of raising their family and working out their issues, she's running all over the country promoting her book, he's running around trying to pretend he's single, she's a nasty sarcastic withc, he's a passive aggressive *******, and they have these 8 beautiful children who are in the middle of this mess through no fault of their own and now they are going to pay the price for their parents' (and I use the term loosely) stupidity.
And that business about needing to be on TV to be able to afford to raise 8 kids...newsflash, when I was a kid we had a lot of families in our school who had 7, 8, 9 even 10 kids. Often, the 10 kids ranged in age over 10 years, so the family was having one kid a year. And they managed...without the million $$ house, the wacky haircut, the tummy tuck, the drunken nights in the bar and all the other ridiculousness that surrounds this train wreck.
When I see situations like this, all I can think is "And I couldn't have kids but these people could"... and all I can do is.
I think you summed it up pretty well.
Although I will say that having multiple kids the same age does make it a little different than families who had multiple kids of different ages simply because when they're the same age, you need more of the same thing as opposed to re-using things. Six cribs, six high chairs, six car seats, six sets of boots, six of everything, all the time. We found this a challenge just with having twins and needing two of everything, and then being done with them. (But that's not to say that the million dollar house and all the other excesses and wackiness was necessary.

But really good summary.
