higher airfare a good thing,... yep!

I booked a 1 bedroom BCV for early May and have been holding off booking our flights, well the other night I was shocked to see that our return ticket to our local airport jumped $135 for each of us. After explaining this to my DH he said let's stay an extra day or two which completely shocked me. So not only will we be at BCV for 10 glorious nights but it is official........ my DH caught the Disney/DVC bug and he has it bad

Are you getting a cheaper ticket price by staying? We almost always arrange our flights wednesday to wednesday to get the cheapest flight we can.

The Monday which was our original return date was the only day that jumped in price, the day after was what we were originally thinking we would pay and by coming back on Wednesday, which is even cheaper, it's as if we are "saving money".

We're doing something similar next spring. My son is off from school the week before Easter and the airfare is astronomical. We are flying at 9pm the Tuesday before, so he will miss 3 days of school and then come back on Holy Thursday, avoiding the highest airfares. If I had flown Saturday to Saturday the week before Easter, our airfare would have been about $700/pp, rather than the $325/pp that I paid. I would have saved even more by flying home on the day before (Wednesday), but we really wanted an 8 day trip. I plan to do this again in the future.

Regardless of how much I pay for airfare (and I've never paid lower than $300/pp), I want to squeeze the most time at WDW that I can. It doesn't pay for me to spend all of that money on airfare just to go for a long weekend.

And sometimes the airlines just "screw up" so you "have to" stay an extra day. I've always wanted to stay at HHI at Thanksgiving until Saturday, but airline fares were prohibitively high on Saturday so we had to come back Friday. Same this year, but then Continental screwed up by cancelling flights and making our connection impossible. So they asked us, please, if we could stay an extra day and return Saturday. Yay! So I'm getting my wish to stay til Saturday on the original lower Friday fare.
