highchairs at disney restaurants

This is probably a silly question, but do the Disney restaurants have highchairs? I ask this because we were out to dinner last night with our 2 year old twins and the restaurant did not have highchairs and it was a nightmare trying to get them to sit still in the seats.

You'll have no problem getting a high chair. When you make your PS's they will ask about this--if they don't them MENTION IT!

At *some* but not all WDW resorts you'll also be able to get a chair (or two) brought to your room.

Yes, they have them, you will have no problem.

We have a restaurant near us that also does not provide highchairs. We learned that the hard way. When DH commented on it to the waitress, she quietly told us owners prefered no children, but wouldn't come right out and make it a policy. Their way of discouraging children was not having high chairs It is NOT an upscale restaurant - It is a steak house for crying out loud, the kind you wear jeans & a t-shirt too. Oh well, worked on us - we've never gone back

Cinjam....I noticed you live in NJ too. The restaurant we went to was also a steakhouse...wonder if it is the same one. The name of it is New Orleans Steakhouse in Jefferson.

Just so you know - The Garden Grill in Epcot has high chairs - but if you want to sit on the lower lever where you can see the boat ride, etc you cannot use a high chair. I know that surprised me....I like it down there best so we went ahead and went with a booster - but if I were to do it again I wouldn't have then (dd was 13 months).

Are any of the highchairs suitable for an infant who can't sit up by herself? DD will be 6.5 months old during our trip (maybe she will be able to sit up by then but I'm not sure).

I don't recall seeing anything but the wooden type. I've seen people turn those upside down and put an infant seat in them, but I'm assuming your child will be long out of that stage, and you won't be hauling the seat around with you anyhow.

Here's hoping your child can sit by themselves by that point!

When we went last Sept. our youngest was 7 months, and a premie. He just started sitting up 2 days before our trip. I was nervous about that b/c when I called, I was told there were no carrier slings (those wooden or plastic contraptions that hold a baby carrier/carseat). Turning a highchair upside down is dangerous, exteremly dangerous. There are usually warnings on the chair and many restruants won't allow it. I used to wait tables, then manage, then consult before mommy-hood in restruants, so I know what I'm talking about. Some highchairs are made to fit, most if not all, infant carriers. I wish all restraunts would switch to those if no baby slings.

Anyhow, we didn't have a problem getting highchairs. Call ahead to the places you want to eat if it is a question

there are a very few restaurants which have highchairs that look like carseats, we used one in the Crystal Palace, but no where else we ate had them. We were usually allowed ot bring our stroller in if they didn't have those sort of carseats (DD was only 12 weeks so definitely not sitting up) the only place we had a problem was the garden grill and we ended up having to hold her which was not at all ideal

Thanks for the info. DD is already out of her infant seat (she is too long for it) so if she is not sitting up at that time we'll see about using the stroller. I did request a highchair via our PS's so we'll have one if she is sitting up.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, I'm thinking that strollers can't be brought into the restaurants.

It depends ont eh restaurant. Some have an absolutely no strollers policy, period. (except the ones used for handicapped children!)

Other will allow them during off-peak times if the child is sleeping.

The rule of thumb is that 95% of the time you'll have to leave it outside.
