highchair vs. tot-lock seat

I assume the restaurants all have highchairs. ;) Our youngest is turning 2 during our trip, and he (and we!) are very much attached to our tot-lock seat (little seat that attaches to the table - like here). Obviously lugging this wouldn't be ideal, but it does fold down to about 4 inches high, maybe 18 inches long - it could certainly fit underneath the stroller. Would anyone bother, or just suck it up and use a highchair? :teeth: It's so nice because he's always right up to the table like everyone else, perfect height, etc. - it's one of those things that I kick myself over because I didn't get one until the 5th - and last - child. lol

If I rember correctly they have the high chairs without the trays. So you could very well pull up your DS to the table. IMHO I would think taking the tot loc with you would be a pain. If you needed to hop a bus you need to fold up the stroller. :D

If you're not going to a park & are just driving to a restaurant, it would be nice to have the chair he's used to. But I'd skip it for anything actually in the World. Maybe I would bring it to a dinner if that was the only thing we were doing & we drove there directly.

It might fit under the stroller, but you will be taking it out to fold the stroller every time you park the car & get on a tram or bus. You usually don't need to fold a stroller to go on the monorail, but in the mornings, when it's crowded, we folded ours to allow more people to fit in the car. I don't know how old your kids are, but it sounds like you'll have a lot to deal with anyway, without bothering about the seat. :)

Yeah, I knew what the answer was going to be, in my head. :D I figured if I didn't at least ask, I'd get down there and discover I was a fool for not bringing it. lol So I asked. I'm thinking we may bring in to have for the hotel room at least. If he wasn't the baby I'd look at a couple of the other brands that flatten down to nothing and only weight a couple pounds - they have a fabric seat - kind of hammick (whoa, that's not spelled right! lol) type seat. But he's almost 2, and he'll be the last, {big sigh}. Thank you both for your input - DH has a fear of being completely inconvienienced, lol. We took a cruise years ago (wow, 10 years ago!) - I kind of overpacked - it was our very first - and last - family trip. ;) Since then we've been limited to a couple days at area theme parks. lol I can still see him trying to haul 5 suitcases at the Miami airport. It was not pretty. :p

All restaurant tables are not created equal. We witnessed a baby in a tot lock seat tip the whole table onto himself (falling backwards, of course) several years ago in a restaurant. It's great at home or at Grandma's when you know how sturdy the table is but...

I'm with you Belle. We loved using one at restaurants until one of our sons somehow jiggled an arm off the table. Somehow my husband caught him before he hit the floor. Of course this was about twenty years ago when they were briefly popular in casual restaurants in our area. I have never trusted them since and rarely see them now.

Thanks :) We've never used one at a restaurant (I can't remember how long it's been since we've actually eaten IN a restaurant - definitely not since our youngest has been around - probably more like 4 years? lol) It works fantastic on our table, but it's designed like a picnic table and doesn't have any extensions or anything.

Does anyone know about the tables in the rooms at HIFS? If the table isn't sturdy enough, would there be a countertop to use? (It would fit on a counter top if there was room beneath it - no cupboards).
