..... My dh (an electrician for the local power company) has been at work since 7 pm last night. He was hunting yesterday so he has been up since about 4 a.m. yesterday morning. Now trust me, I will love the check we get on Friday (double time since midnight) but how safe is it to work these guys like this??? I worry the whole time he is out overnight this long.

I would too. It seems pretty irresponsible to work people in dangerous jobs too long. It's a fact of life though, I guess.

Hope all is well with him, and he comes home soon and is able to catch up on his sleep!

your poor dh! I work some overnight shifts and usually don't feel how tired I am until I am on my way home. Maybe you can have him call you when he is off work and you can pick him up if he is nervous about driving, but most likely he will be ok. Your body just kind of knows it has to be awake and aware when you are at work since that is what it is used to. Good luck!

p.s. Expect him to sleep all day and still be tired when he wakes up. I can sleep 13 hrs. during the day and still feel like I haven't slept (although I haven't been able to do that in years) but if I sleep 2 hours at night I am fine. It is so wierd.

We lost power for about 3 hours last night. I had to take DS out to dinner (no power=no stove=no dinner). When I got back home, our lights were on, but the Electric Company truck was about three houses down from us, still working. I skedaddled back to Dunkin' Donuts and got them a Box o Joe. They were MOST appreciative and said they thought they were in for a long night.

It's STILL howling down here now, so I suspect a lot of the guys are still out there.
