I'm going to really try to get both, but if I can't...

which one would you suggest over the other? High Tea and Palo or the brunch?

I know I will be in the minority, but I saw HIGH TEA!!!
The food at the brunch is delicious, but on a cruise there is never a lack of good food. The high tea is delicious, and it is also a whole experience. It feels so elegant to be served real tea with a strainer, and the flavors to choose from are excellent. And then you eat neat little treats like finger sandwiches, eclairs, and parfait. Mmmmm! High tea is one of my most favorite experiences on the Magic. I know hubby would disagree, as he is a huge brunch fan, but high tea would be my choice any way.

My vote is for the Brunch. $10 is well worth the price. High tea is just so-so (because it's free, it's the first to be booked-up. I realized that High Tea has less seating as well).

We went to the brunch and did not attend high tea but one of the people in our party loves tea so she chose her tea from about 20 different teas and was served as I have heard other people explain with the strainer etc.
After paying for babysitting and then the brunch and tip it cost us over $45. We definately enjoyed palos in the evening much more and will probably not attend the brunch again.

on our cruise we were lucky enough to get ressies for all 3 (dinner, brunch, and tea). Sadly, I had to cancel dinner due to unfortunate circumstances, but we did make it to the other 2.

My choice would be brunch. It was truly a great dining experience, much more than the term "brunch" would imply.

I am a person who enjoys going to tea whenever I have the opportunity & have been to what I think is one of the best-- afternoon tea at Harrod's in London. Tea on the ship was an ok event but not in the same league with others. I did have a good time, but the treats offered were just ok (the tea was wonderful) with the parfait being really disappointing. Just MHO but I guess that's what you asked for?! HTH :D

I also vote for brunch. The food is MUCH better, more varied and more interesting.

I personally vote for the Brunch. It is incredible. It's so nice to sit in Palo in the morning enjoying your meal in the sunlight. The food is fantastic.

I am guessing this is a dumb bunch of questions, but here goes anyways....

Can kids go to either the brunch or high tea?

Is the brunch suppose to be dressy like a regular night at Palo?

Can you book any or all of the events at the same time the day you board? We booked Palo on a 4 day for dinner and it was great, but no brunch on a 4 day.

I thought I remembered hearing about something to do with champagne - is that the brunch?

not dumb questions at all!

no kids at Palo at all, even daytime meals.

brunch was dressy but not quite as much as would be at dinner, I presume. I wore a nice dress, DH wore nice slacks & nice top and he was a little under-dressed for brunch. He should have had a jacket as well. Same was appropriate for tea.

I booked all 3 events at the same time when we boarded. We were directed to one of the nightclubs for ressies (not sure which one) when we boarded the ship.

Yes, it is a champagne brunch, each person receives one complimentary glass, you may purchase additional if you choose.

And additionally, I recommend ordering a dessert pizza at the end. DH & I shared one, it was delicious and unlike anything we get "around here". A very flat, crisp crust--I assume a real traditional Italian pizza. We then had no room for other tasty desserts but our waiter surprised us (he was terrific) and brought us a sampling of all the desserts "to go" in a pretty foil swan and basket. We kept these in the in-room cooler/fridge and enjoyed them later with our kids, that way they had "a taste" of Palo also.

Thanks for the update/answers. We are on the Nov 1 cruise and I just received my tux which we bought on eBay last week. The stars must be aligned - it fits great so I won't need to try to get it altered before we leave Friday!!! I hope to get some use out of it at Palo, the formal night, and maybe the semi-formal.

Thanks for the comment about the jacket being appropriate - I'll be sure to pack an extra one to wear with the more casual outfit.

I remember signing up last time on the 4 day cruise in one of the night clubs, as well. I thought it was at Wavebands.

Again, thanks for the info!

I was able to attend all three, and brunch was by far the best meal of the entire cruise!

We had Erika for our server, and she was the best server we've ever had, anywhere. Even better than Ron at Jiko at the AKL, and that says a LOT!

The tea was fun and good, but certainly not "world class". It almost seemed like an afterthought.

As far as dress, at brunch dressy casual is fine. I want to think I wore a resort wear type pant suit and DH wore chinos and a polo type shirt.

Dinner is much dressier, I think they suggest a jacket for men and dressier pant suit or dress for women, although it's not uncommon to see formal attire there as well.

Tea is also dressy casual, but slightly more on the casual side. I had tea with another Dis Board'er, I wore a sundress and she wore a skirt and blouse, and we both felt just right.

Enjoy!
