High sugar test

Are all fruits and vegetables good for me in this case?
Ex. apples, oranges, grapes, papayas?

They would be included in a healthy dietary plan, but not in unlimited portions. ;)

I went through this with DD#1. After I failed both the 1 hr and 3 hr test they sent me to an endocrinologist. They tested my blood there and gave me a kit to test my blood at home. They walked me through how to test my blood sugar, what the readings should be, how often to do it, etc.
They also set me up with a dietician.

Good luck and bring plenty to read while you're sitting in the dr. office.

With many gestational diabetes patients, it is not eating enough that causes sugar problems. Eating balanced meals and snacks spread out through the days keeps you steady and even, and feeling good. If you fail the test they will send you to a GD specialist for nutrition consultation (they will go over an eating plan) and teach you how to test. They will also do ultrasounds of the baby to make sure he/she is doing great and that everything progresses normally.

Someone else mentioned not to worry until you know - that is great advice. In the interim you might limit "sugar" like soda and juice, things with sugar added, and just eat a healthy diet. It was scary to me to fail the first test, and then to fail the second while expecting DS but it really was fairly easy to manage. Sorry if I gave TMI and caused any stress, it wasn't my intention.

I am the worried and nervous type, so you or anyone else did not scare me. I will just see how my test results are and on that same day, I will find out how the baby is doing since I will be put on the ultrasound machine.

Does anyone know of any website that has charts of foods that I should eat and stay away from?

((HUGS)) Patsy, I think I am going to be in that same boat. They gave me the drink yesterday and told me to drink it about an hour before my next appt which is not til June 1st.

Well, yesterday and today I have started having some vision problems that last for about 30 mins at a time and I can not see well and have these streaks of light flashing through my eyes so I can't focus on anything. We have a family history with diabetics and so I was worried anyways, that and I am not the best eater in the world. So I read everything and it says that is one huge sign of it so I have to call my dr first thing in the am and get them to get me in to see what it could be. No fun!

I sure hope you pass your 2nd test. I hear a lot of people fail the first but pass the second. Please let us know.
