if you are sailing out of Port Canaveral this weekend beware high seas expected.

Same for Miami? We leave from there next week.

Next week is any ones guess at the moment. By Weds or Thurs wed have a better idea of what will happen then. What day are you leaving?1-2 days in advance are fairly accurate.

Glad I cancelled that excursion to Atlantis on Dec 8.... Getting massage instead. We cruise out on Monday Dec 7.
First time cruising... I guess if it rains the entire time, it gives us more time to explore the ship & relax since this is our first cruise.
Bummed about the rain........ but, you can't control the weather.....
Just be glad you are not at work !!!! :)

Is this the stuff you have to take before you actually need it?

Nope. If you feel yourself getting a little sick take it and you should be fine soon. If you know you will be getting rough seas take it every night before bed. Now if you wait too long and you are constantly throwing up it won't do any good because you will throw it up. It won't have time to work

Was on the Dream out of Port Canaveral that sailed Friday, December 4th. The "joint was rocking" Friday night and Sunday night, to say the least, but not the "things were sliding off desks stage." But the curtains were certainly swaying and the room was softly "popping" . Scared my DIL half to death, her first cruise! It was kind of soothing after we got in bed, to me and DH!

If you are prone to motion sickness, the answer is a definitive YES. It is imperative to have anti-motion sickness meds in your system before you sail if you are one of those poor souls prone to this malady. My DD#2 has been terribly susceptible to motion sickness since very small and still suffers with it. If she doesn't start taking Bonine (Meclizine) the day before a cruise and every day routinely as directed, she has a terrible time with it if the seas are at all rough.

I would not get worried about Surf conditions as they would not always be a indication of what the sea conditions are off shore. More important would be the direction, speed of the wind and times of the tides, etc. Those with motion sickness, I would suggest you call your family Doc and ask them what you think you should use as they know you best.

Oh no I've booked for 17th December 2016 because I thought this time of year the seas were calmer. We love cruising but my DD will not do well with a rocking boat as she will be terrified. Oh well I will hope for the best and be grateful we are on a Disney cruise

Saturday evening was a wild ride. My wife and my best friend spent the evening in their respective beds while my best friend's wife and I went out to dinner and on to Skyline. The captain warned us as we were leaving on Saturday that we would be experiencing worse than usual seas, and many of our servers and other Cast Members said it was some of the worst they've seen this year. 18' seas, 50 mph winds and the Gulf Stream all conspired to ensure that I got rocked to sleep like a baby while my wife just tried to keep lunch down.

Today? 5' seas and 21 knots. Cruising toward Castaway Cay. It's a beautiful, smooth day so far.

Winter is almost always rougher in my experience deep sea fishing. The summer is calmer unless you have a tropical event in the area.
