I have gone to private school all my life, and this year as a freshman I am starting my first public school. Can Tips, Pionter about high school and public school?

High school isn't as bad as it's depicted to be.
Just be yourself. (:
If you get lost on the first day, don't worry! Teachers and staff are there to help, and chances are there's probably a ton of kids getting lost with you.

Public school is fun...I don't know how to compare it to private school since I've never been..but you get to wear your clothes and have your own style. :goodvibes

I hope you have a fun year. :)

High School is like a lot easier socially than Jr. High. Just be social, be yourself, and join afterschool activities =)

agreeed ^^^^
but, i must say, and maybe you already know this
do not stand in the middle of the halls
thats my #1 pet peeve with the freshman, haha
same goes with sitting on the stairs where people are trying to get by to go to class
who does that ?
haha
but good luck :goodvibes

You'll enjoy it. I did. I have soooo many good memories from high school.
And I TOTALLY agree with xx-bethh, don't stand in the middle of the hallways!!
Or else you'll get a lot of angry words directed at you and you'll be shoved out of the way.

Wow...this is freaky...my friend just moved to Florida, and is starting public school, too *shakes off* impossible...

ANYWAY!

Ahhh let's see...

*Maps are your friend
*Upperclassmen tend to exaggerate
*Stay to the SIDES of the halls! PLEASE!
*Use the agenda/planner, lol.

just dont be stupid or annoying and no one will bother you.

i used to go to private school so i can relate. im going to be a freshman this year too.

its different basically in that theres so many PEOPLE! like i love not knowing everyone. and the teachers are really nice, there to help definately. and dont be afraid to go to your guidance counselor or anything, i go all the time.

the teachers arent going to remind you of stuff as much, so make sure that you write it all down.

its gonna be fun!! good luck!

High school is pretty awesome. but just a heads up, there will be drama! Especially among the girls.
But you will make some great friends, you'll have tons of laughs, you'll make so many memories, and you'll learn a lot.
Good luck and enjoy it!

i have been im private school my whole life too, and private and public high schools are the same. seriously, it doesnt matter ,you deal with all the same drama and you deal with all the same issues and pressure and controversies. obivously there are a few differences like what u wear and mayb if u go to church or whatever, stuff like that

my tips for you are jsut be yourself dont change for ANYBODY people should accept you for you not someone fake. dont get stressed over meeting new people or not fitting in, you will trust me. dont get stressed over simple things like getting lost, because theres people thatll help and youl l be fine. good luckk:D

I can't really help with High School but here are some tips and pointers about Pubilc school(which i have attended my whole life):

1. There will be DRAMA! no denying it. It will happen. Just stay out of it.
2. Public school is not scary or hard or anything bad
3. Not having to wear a uniform(if you did) is really cool, you get to see everyones personal style
4. In high school you end up knowing everybody even if they are older or younger than you.
5. Sports are fun! If you want to go out i highly recommend it, especially if you are new, you make a ton of great friends through sports!
6. there are more people...lots of them
7. teachers really want you to be responsible so they will not remind you about assignments and stuff like that...my advice get a day planner or something to write down your assignments for each class

All in all, just have fun. public school is really no different than private, it is still school, there is still a dress code, there are still teachers and principals. so just have fun and enjoy it. make friends and try new things. you will have a lot of laughs and make a bunch of memories that will live on in your mind forever.

Yep!!!!

it probably won't be as big of a deal for you, because you are switching schools.
but all i have to say is people change.
there are only 30 kids in my junior class, so i have been with the same people since i moved here in the 2nd grade.
but the people that you were formerly friends with might not end up being your friends in high school.
a lot of people's personalities change.

but it isn't all that bad.
just don't annoy upperclassmen.
we can be evil.
:)

Join clubs and sports teams
Don't stand in the middle of the hall
DON'T WALK SLOWLY

I've been to every school. Homeschool, Public, and Private. And I'd have to say Public is my absolute favorite. I currently go to a Public High School and I love it! :]

High school is really fun. I was a freshman last year and it was hard at first because I moved to a new city and didn't know anyone which sucked. But join clubs to meet new people, be yourself, have fun, and you shouldn't have a problem! :] Good Luck!

I went to a very small high school in the mountains, where everyone knows your business at all times. Make sure you get to classes on time though, and know where they all are before the first day if you can. I spent a lot of my first day trying to navigate the passages and ramps until I found my locker and I didn't get the best seats in class because I took so long!

Make sure you know what you will likely need to take for the colleges you want to apply to, otherwise you'll waste time in classes you don't even need later!
Go to sporting events, join clubs and sports, and get good grades (don't party too much!). High school is a big part of growing up, but you will enjoy it if you stay positive! Graduation hits you before you realize it.
