Jake, DS,17 has is first tournament of the season this weekend. It is his final year. We hosted 6 out of town wrestlers last night... yes, SIX, sweaty, muscle bound, teenage wrestlers. After they showered, they ate meatball sandwiches, fruit, veggies, chips .. they had all weighed in early in the am and did not have to weigh in again for this tournament. YAY! They were famished. They each wrestled 4 times yesterday and are scheduled for 5 rounds today. WHEW! Jake is wrestling heavy weight. He thinks he wrestled the toughest guy in the competition yesterday.. big.. hulking fellow with a shaved head! Jake beat him with points... hope today he wrestles well! Jake has wrestled now for 7 years. He only wrestles on school teams and is not a private club wrestler. He has learned so much and has really come into his own. He is going to college next year and hopes to teach one day. He also wants to coach. He has a big heart and we enjoy watching him with the younger team members.
Many of you might remember that Jake experienced a huge loss last year when Coach Q died while he was with Jake after wrestling practice. Jake quietly remembered Coach Q as he began the season.
So for all you wrestling parents.. especially the moms- Hope you have a GREAT SEASON!!!

My congrats to Jake.
