We just got DD's tee ball schedule and she practices on Sundays at 4:00. I don't like it, but I do it. At her first practice, the high school team was practicing on another field. Is it me or is that odd?

I taught and coached high school sports. I'm not a holier-than-thou sort, but I just didn't touch Sundays because I figured they're sacred to people whether they're religious or not. Have I become old fashioned? :confused3

DS has had both play rehearsal and hockey practice this year on Sunday night. So we have pretty much had something every Sunday this year. At least they are later in the day starting about 6.

Our local rec leagues (soccer, baseball and softball) play games on Sundays as well as practice. For the hs team, I don't think a Sunday practice is unusual.

Sunday evenings is pretty common for H.S. activities. DS also has a youth orchestra rehearsal every Sunday afternoon starting at 1:00 (for 5 years). I don't think it's really seen as a problem. For example, the youth orchestra has a lot of religiously active home schooled kids in it and there have been few if any objections to it happening on a Sunday. It's a challenge - we usually go directly from Church to Youth Orchestra and then either back to Church or to a H.S. activity - Sundays can get very busy.

It is getting more and more common as rec leagues expand and there is only so much field time to go around.

Baseball and softball are so popular here and there just aren't enough fields to go around. We have kids in the 9-10 age group having practices until 9:30 or 10 at night, etc., so it doesn't surprise me at all.

I have had 2 graduate alreasy and 2 that are seniors this year. We have never had anything on a Sunday. Between my kids, they have done, football, drill team, drama club, school play, track, softball and I think that's it. Again, never a Sunday. And our little league in town doesn't do Sundays either. But then again, we're in the Bible Belt of Texas.

We have Sunday sports as well. They need to use the fields when available.

In Colorado, Sundays are a "no contact" day for high school coaches. They're not supposed to have any contact with the players (practice or games). My guess is that this stemmed from overzealous coaches in the past who demanded that the kids practice 7 days a week.

So we don't have high school practices on Sundays. But my kids HAVE had Sunday games and practices when they played club sports.

We have soccer, softball and lacrosse on Sunday here- Soccer is 9am! My only gripe is that I have to get up early in the morning and cant sleep later LOL!!!
There are more kids that DO NOT go to church than the ones that do around here so why not have practices??

Sunday mornings are not touchable around here, but noon on is fair game.

Another thing, with the HORRID Spring we've had here in the NE, teams are practicing whenever the fields dry up.

DS has had baseball practice the past 2 Sunday mornings, and I know the older kids practice Sunday evenings. Sunday afternoons are for soccer here!

Because those that do go to church should be able to without missing practice. As I stated earlier, I'm not a die hard church attender myself. But I feel I should respect those that are - it's only one morning a week.

Nothing starts until after noon on Sundays so that church would be out of the way.

We do attend church every week and DS is in a Catholic school but they still use Sunday. We just adjust which Mass we attend and are fortunate to have a Saturday night choice as well as 4 times on Sunday. It is possible to get to both practice and church but it takes some planning.:goodvibes

we had wrestling practice on Christmas Eve. Just a part of being committed to your team in my opinion.
