How do you feel about them?

It is 25 years this year, and tomorrow is mine. I see most (if not all) of the people I was close to regularly, or at least speak to them. I have not attended ANY to date, and was kind of guilted into saying yes.

I am a little uneasy.:upsidedow

there was a 10 year reunion, but it was $150...it included a party on friday nite, crawfish boil on saturday with family and then a catered dinner on sunday at a hotel. i didn't like them enough the first go round, that i wasn't paying $150 to spend with them then. you also couldn't pick and choose which events.

they forgot about the 15 year...probably still paying off the 10th.:rotfl:

right now there's a fb group for all alumni to go on a cruise next year.

who knows what's going to happen in 2014 for our 20th.

My 25th just happened this year...I didn't go. I thought about it, but then I thought...ya know, I didn't like most of these people when I went to school with them, why on earth would I want to go pay a lot of money to hang out with them???

I went to an unofficial event (meetup at a local bar) for the 10th, and I admit it was somewhat entertaining to see what a few of the snobby "beautiful people" looked like by then. :cool2: By now would probably be even better, but still not worth the money.

My husband and I are attending our 20th reunion tonight. We didn't have a fifth, but we went to the others. Tenth was a lot of fun, a huge group of people and we had a great time. Fifteenth was just sad. Out of a class of nearly 300, approx 25 showed up. Ugh. We stayed longer than we would have just so the planners wouldn't feel so bad.

According to facebook, about 100 are planning to be there tonight, so it shouldn't be too bad. And they are only charging $15/person (not including the drinks) and having a split the pot raffle to pay for the dj, so we aren't out much if it ends up being a drag.

We know a few of our friends are coming, so I think we'll have a good time.

With Facebook, the need for me to go is unnecessary. I have been reunited with my best HS friends. We have already had little mini reunions. I won't be attending the 25th next year.

My 25th is going to be over the summer, and just happens to fall on my b-day. I haven't decided yet if I will go...not really how I want to be spending my b-day. I guess whether I go or not will depend on the cost involved...

What to do...what to do...

I feel your pain.

I went to my 5 year one back in 1980 and haven't gone back to any others. Maybe it would be different now that everyone is old  but back then everyone still stuck to their same cliques.

We went to DH's 5 year and his 10 year one and had a good time at both, but for some reason haven't gone back to any more of his either.

If we're still around, maybe we'll go to our 50th ones. I don't know.

I love the idea and it's fun to catch up with people. (Though as said, Facebook answers alot of the questions you always wonder about.) I didn't spend a whole lot of time in HS trying to make people like me, so I don't find it alot of pressure now to measure up to anyone else's level of "success" or "aging well" or whatever, lol.

That said, I am surprised sometimes how little folks have matured. I went to a couple different HS (military brat). One has a couple times now planned cruises as reunions. I love the concept, but watching the planning on Facebook- it was all everyone planning how drunk they were going to get. Admittedly, probably doesn't help I don't drink, but still. I lived through that with them all on senior trip, I don't need to do that again.

I tend to ignore mine. I live too far away, and wasn't close enough with most of my class to spend the money/time to go it from this distance. I do keep in touch with one friend from back then, but we communicate more often than the reunions anyway.

For the most part, I liked high school, but I have zero interest in attending. The people who were my friends, I'm in touch with. That's one of the benefits of Facebook.

The others I couldn't care less about. And to be honest, the ones who seem to get excited about going to reunions are the type I didn't like anyway.

Then just don't go...
I'm not going to any of mine. If I want to know how the captain of the football team is doing, I'll ask him when he comes to mow my lawn.

Never feel guilty about not going to something you didn't want to go to in the first place.

I've never been to one. I still see the people I actually liked in HS, and have no desire to see the rest.

Much like Wedding Crashers I have on occasion attended ones that aren't mine

I went to my 10 year, only because the organizers wouldn't stop bugging my grandmother for my contact information. And, when they found me, they drove me crazy trying to talk me into it.

It was stupid and I WILL NOT be going to another one. I didn't care for those people in high school, and found I out I didn't care much for them 10 years later. The snooty people were still snooty and it got really old hearing about their financial and social successes.

They put together a slide show and had no less than a dozen photos of me and my ex boyfriend (who they all knew was SEVERLY abusive). That was IT for me, DH and I left and I haven't spoken to ANY of them since.

One good thing came of it, DH felt so bad for me, we drove straight to Disney from there and stayed a few days!

So, like you, I was guilted into going and it turned out to be one of the most horrible nights of my life.....just sayin!

My high school had one last year, but I didn't go. High school was the 4 worst years of my life and I have no desire to hang around those people or to relive that time of my life. I've moved on.

Oddly, though, I'm facebook friends with several people from back then. They facebook-friended me even though I'm sure not a one knew who I was - I don't even know who half of them are. I've since put the annoying people on ignore, but I do enjoy reading the status updates of some.

This. My 20th is in a few weeks and I'm not going. I haven't been to a single reunion and have no regrets. I grew up in a very small town and most of my classmates are still living there. My mom said they haven't changed much, so I really have no interest in seeing any of them.

Thanks all ..

Well, I am going because I promised I would. I am going solo as DH is working. A lot of my friends are, so I don't feel so bad about that.

There is a buffet dinner from 4 to 7, and then a band. I will go after the buffet, because I have to get my children taken care of, and have MOM come over.

I hope to enjoy myself.:cool1:

No, have not been to any. They "couldn't find me" to notify me. Funny thing, I live in the next neighborhood from one of the planners (who happened to be a very good friend in Jr high...and we are now real-life friends bc of FB). Like pps have said, I just scope them out on FB.
