High School musicals... not the movies haha

My school is putting on Beauty & the Beast for our Spring Musical. (: I'm so excited to see it.

Today, we technically opened for The Music Man. It was the matinee for the 6th graders. There was hardly anyone there and it was as if our audience was dead. However, we did really well until the finale when we all forgot what to do. :lmao:
Tomorrow is the senior citizens' matinee and the paying public starts coming on Wednesday night through Saturday night. I'm really nervous.

We are doing the Sound of Music right now as well! I wish we could have done Beauty and the Beast though!

btw nick jonas was in sound of music on broadway when he was little and played the role of Kurt. :))

he was soooo cute. (pics on youtube) our middle schools r doing music man and beauty. our HS has sweeny todd!

We're doing Annie... opening night is on Friday!

just finished annie, i was Hanigan! it worked out rly well! i couldn't do my school show though because of it :( annie is one of my favorite shows! (been in it 3 times, as molly, annie, and now hanigan)
Really? I did not know that! I knew that he was in Les Miserables (I believe this was Nick) as Gavroche. But two out of the three Jonas Brothers were on Broadway as young boys.

joe was also in an opera on broadway, but didn't do as much as nick who did music man, les mis, beauty and the beast and alen menken's christmas carol.
I'm Judas in Godspell... as a Freshman :scared1:

thats great!!!!! congrats! lucky boys, always get a better shot at roles. my bff got the part of anthony in sweeny, he's a freshy as well!

Thank you! It's really a fun musical, because it's so versatile, and it doesn't have sex, drugs, or language. It's pretty controversial though, so I understand why schools wouldn't do it.

it is another one of my favorites!!!!! u can see it 100 times and never see the same show twice. we did our in a theatre setting with jesus being the director. it turned out very cool because even the tech crew could be on stage with the lights on. i got to be one of the two by my side soloists and it is my all time favorite piece from the show!!!!

preparing for an audtion for thoughly modern milly. idk what song i'm gonna sing yet, got a couple in mind.

I'm at rehearsal now waiting to actually have to go onstage. We start tech week on Friday so I'm prepping for the lack of sleep I'm going to be getting for the next few days.

Stage crew is FINALLY over.

Running crew begins Saturday... Joy.

I love theatre, I do.. soooo many hours :p

u haven't had lack of sleep till u've been in FIVE shows at a time!
one in production thurs- sat nights and sat and sun mat's,
another in production, sat and sun mornings at the same theatre,
a show at school which rehearsals ran from 3-5,
a community show rehearsal monday-thursday 6-10
then the fifth show started rehearsal during the performances of the above community show

lets just say it was a VERY busy 5 months (during the school year too!)

I actually can't wait for tech day
I had a ton of fun last time.

My friend and I did a coffee and donuts run at about 10 PM and everybody was bouncing off the walls from the caffeine

lets just say if it wasn't for starbucks... and my friend who can drive (this was a "younger" show with the oldest being freshmen. my bff annie was the intern) i don't think i would have made it!!! what i miss most about being in annie (the last show i was in) beside the fact that i was in a show and had something to do, were the parties. i spent more time partying than at school that week!!! (we preformed for schools in our area so i got to ditch. we would spend the rest of the day at someone's house or a portillo's!!!)

6th Grade-Aladdin Jr.
7th Grade-Bye Bye Birdie
8th Grade-Godspell Jr.

This year at the high school they did Footloose, and it was AMAZING! Last year they did Once Upon a Mattress, and 2 years ago they did Beauty and the Beast.

That sounds exhausting but so incredibly fun! I don't know, but everything is always so much more fun when you are super theatre sleep deprived!

We are about to put on Grease (School Version of course). March 3 is our first performance.

I'm not in drama but my school did that either last year or 2 years ago. I believe it was last year. I see all of the plays. Always wanted to audition but always been too afraid and I know i wouldn't get a part because there are certain people who are in every play. In the fall they did Dracula. Which was extremely good. This spring that are doing Here Come the Brides. I have no clue what it's about. Past years they have done Harvey, Grease, Dracula, this weird Dr. Seuss one and I can't really think of any others because they weren't something you heard of everyday.

This is the first time in six months I haven't been in a show.

Started in the beginning of September with The Wiz. Through November... 6th?
Our school's freshman/sophomore one acts were from mid-October to beginning of December
Then Beauty and the Beast until this last weekend.

My director finally announced the shows for next year. Our fall play is going to be Macbeth (we are all super excited to see what curses fall upon us and our production). And our musical is going to be The Pajama Game which I have to sy I've really never heard of. But I got the soundtrack and listening to it I'm getting more and more excited about the show.

Ahhh Godspell went AMAZINGLY well! Everything was so perfect. Every night we performed it, we were all crying in the end.

Sounds awesome. I'm so jealous you got to be in that show. I love it but there is no way my director would ever pick that.
