Has anyone seen the High School Musical Pep Rally? Where is it located?
How long does it last? Is it similar to the movie? Any photo opportunities?

I'm assuming your talking about the one at WDW. :)
It's between the Tomorrowland Transit Authority "People Movers" and the exit to Buzz Lightyear. You can't miss it. There is a stage set up and a taped off area on the ground. When we were there in December people were lining up around the taped off area a good 20-25 minutes early to get prime spots. As there isn't any sort of incline, the later you get there, the more likely you'll be behind others (and kids behind adults make it hard for them to see.) Luckily, both times we saw it, I was able to ask an adult if my small children could stand in front of them so they could see and the people were very pleasant. I still stayed behind.

It's similar to the movie in that they do songs and dance routines from the movie. There isn't a whole big involved story line though. Show lasts maybe 15-20 minutes IIRC.

I didn't really see any photo opportunities. The dancers may have stayed after a bit, but we usually buzzed out of there to do something else.

I will say tough, the music is FAR too loud. Being around there made my chest pound and my ears hurt. I don't understand why everything has to be SO loud. My kids loved it, but they weren't happy with how loud it was either.

HTH.

I saw it in Dec in the same location as PP but it has since moved to MGM. I am not really sure where exactly it is located. You may want to post in the theme park section to get an accurate response as to where in the park it is located.

We saw it at MK in December. My girls loved it. I videotaped it and my 3yo watches it at least once a week.

we saw it last week. My 6 yo son saw High School Musical on the Disney Channel shortly before we left and thoroughly enjoyed it so he was anxious to see the show. They have a float that starts at Star Tours and moves along the parade route to in front of the hat then they do a 10-15 minute show before getting back on the float and going the rest of the parade route so no photo ops. It's a cute show and they do invite the kids to come out and dance with them at one point. Here are a few of the pics I took (I was videotaping with one had and taking pics with the other b/c DH had take our other sons to do something else)...

What great pics. My DD 6 is dieing to see this so I am glad it is getting good reviews. I was wondering is it part of the parade itself or seperate, but they follow the parade route for the show? Also if it is seperate do they post the show times? Last question where would be the best place to wait for it to start and see it. It sounds like in front of the hat as opposed to following it until it gets there. Any further advice you could give would be great because I am guessing my nieces, 9,7 and 4 are going to want to see it too.

It is seperate from the midday parade. Your best bet is to just wait for it at the hat, they just go through the parade route singing one of the songs, no "show" during the parade route part. If you follow the float, you won't have front row seats for the show so wait at the hat. It is listed on the times guide and has several shows a day.

oooh, thank you for the info! :goodvibes My dd9 and dd5 LOVE the movie and we are constantly singing along to the soundtrack in the van...can't wait till we get a chance to see this one! :yay: I wonder who will be more excited...the girls....or ME! :rotfl:

One recent change that happened this week - the float now starts at the park entrance and goes out by Star Tours. So many people were following the float to the entrance and then having to turn around to get back into the park that it made more sense to have people go back into the park via the route toward Star Tours. It's fun to follow it out - they do the same song ("Bop to the Top") as they do on the way in.

Thanks so much for answering all my questions:cool1:. What a big help it will be:goodvibes. I am one of those who likes to know what to expect and plan accordingly, and with 11 people on this trip it is even more important. Call it the Virgo in me:laughing:.

Great photos...all that and a video....awesome. My daughter will be thrilled if they ask her to dance. It is the 2nd grade phenomenom in Michigan. She is already planning her birthday...HS Musical theme!

Thanks to everyones great tips! I appreciate your input.
