Has anyone seen this? I just saw the pictures on LaughingPlace.com and I don't really understand why anyone would want to waste time seeing this. I mean, it's not like it's the actual actors/actresses from the movie. It's a few high school (looking) kids up on a stage singing and dancing.

I mean, yeah it's live entertainment, which the Magic Kingdom has lacked a little here lately - but couldn't they have come up with something better than this?? And to put it in Tomorrowland? :confused3 I'm actually kind of annoyed by the thing. I picture walking into Tomorrowland and seeing this big old stage blocking my views of Space Mountain... where is the stage located?

Does anyone else share my sentiments?

A lot of people liked that movie. :confused3 I dont know why...but they did.

Also, I noticed many, many "tweens" wearing HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL shirts, when we were down there.

I dunno.... It's a nice cheap show to pull together.

Isn't this show an the already existing stage in tomorrowland - you know the one they use for the Christmas show? I'm not sure about this, but that was my assumption. If it is it shouldn't block anyone's view.

Why would you be annoyed? Kids - tweens especially - LOVED this movie. I think its great that they made a show in WDW based on it. I personally probably wouldn't enjoy it, but Disneyworld isn't only about me and what I want. I was thrilled when they put EE in Animal Kingdom even though I don't like rollercoasters, because it give joy to the others that ride it. To me thats what Disney is all about - giving joy to all people.

Yes... we saw it on Sunday, but I was wondering the same thing -- what is the point?!! My kids (and I :cheer2: ) love the movie but were completely bored with this show so we only stayed about 5 minutes. The show seems to have very little to do with High School Musical - the movie, and even the actors we saw were well beyond high school age! Hopefully Disney will improve the show as it is a very popular movie....

Actually I think the point is that it is additional entertainment. Yup, it is lame in a cute way for kids, it does have a message and for some reason kids love HSM. As with all other live entertainment venues they are to detract you from the rides so that the lines are lessened, to provide entertainment for those that do not ride and to give kids an opportunity to interact. Do you think the characters on Main Street when you arrive are there to help you get from place to place easily, no they are a way to keep traffic form flowing right into the ride lines. All that entertainment on the streets, same thing--sure we stop for it and enjoy it, but really it is there to provide you with more atmosphere. That is the beauty of Disney--don't like it move on to something you might enjoy better. As for the stage it is roughly in about the same area the "old" Tomorrow Land stage was. If it isn't for you thne don't do find something else you might enjoy better, but the kids that were there when we were really were into it and it had a pretty big crowd.

We thought it was a cute show. My kids are 5 & 8 and love the movie. This has the most popular songs from the movie, & my kids were singing along. My DD8 watched it 3 times.

Not all things are for all people. That's why it's nice that WDW offers variety.

If it's located on an existing stage out of the way of anything then it doesn't bother me. But I couldn't tell by the pictures and I've never heard anyone say exactly where it was located. I guess that is the only reason I'm annoyed - because I was thinking it was kind of right in the middle of Tomorrowland... But if that's not the case and it is in fact located in the theater between COP and Buzz than I guess it's not that bad. I still don't get the craze though...

Exactly my thoughts. Not everything at WDW is for everyone, but I know my 9 YO DD loves that movie and will enjoy the show. HSM is a huge hit for Disney, so a lot of people must love it. I thought it was great for the tween age group.

Looks to me like its located near the elevated area of the load/unload for TTA and sort of "in front" of CoP.
That area is a bit crowded on the "Buzz" attraction side, but not much congestion on the opposite side.

I guess another thing that would annoy me is if you can hear it walking around Tomorrowland. Like I said it just doesn't fit in Tomorrowland. Like if I'm over in that area (I'm assuming COP area) can you hear it waiting in line for COP?? Don't get me wrong - I actually enjoyed the movie and the tunes are catchy. But I just can't see walking around Tomorrowland and being destracted by the sights / sounds of a "pep rally".

Am I making any sense? Like with Streetmosphere and most other live entertainment - you can just move on and you don't have to be "destracted" by it if you don't want to. Is this the case with this show?? I don't know, this is why I'm asking... didn't mean to offend anyone, really.

Sure, with a benign thread title like that, what fan of HStM could be offended?

:rotfl2:

I've got to say, my kids LOVED the show. It was a nice break while waiting for our FP for Buzz Lightyear. My kids (4, 5, 8) danced and sang -- and had a great time! I thought it was cute, too.

The stage is out of the way over to the right of SM. We really wanted to see the show and love the movie, but always seemed to be somewhere else looking for Aurora or on another ride when it was showtime. We had planned to see the first show at 10, but it wasn't until 11 a.m. last Friday??? Maybe I just remembered wrong from the website. Anyway, this makes me feel a little less guilty that DD5 missed it--she even had on her HSM shirt that day! :cheer2: Since the last show was at 5 pm, and we missed that, too, we just went to see Share a Dream again--now that was true Disney magic!

Yeah - because dare I ask what the point of something is... I wouldn't think that would offend someone, but yeah - if you are offended by a question like that, especially since it's about a movie, you may have some issues.

But anyway - so it sounds like it is kind of out there in the middle... and no one has addressed the fact that High School Musical is located in Tomorrowland. Talk about ruining a good theme.

Just my opinion... I still say - what's the point?

My DS (7) was a fan of the movie. I thought he would love to see the show when we went because he knows the songs by heart. Well threem minutes into the show when he realized "Troy" was not there ..he was ready to leave.

Normally, I would probably tend to agree with you, the original poster. However, having two girls who are obsessed with this movie, I can see the attraction to it, even w/out the original cast performing. I told my girls about it (for our upcoming trip) and explained that it isnt' the kids from the movie, and yet they are still excited to see it!

That would be the part that I'd enjoy, probably wouldn't watch the rally but the songs are fun, at least if they're doing the ones from the movie.

Well, Tomorrowland hasn't really had much of a tomorrow theme for about 30 years now :teeth:

Have a magical day.

GO CARDS! Quick upload, isn't that a snapshot from last nights game?

Anyway... When I first read the thread I was thinking... Hey? Who's it hurting? my kids liked the little mini show they know all the words and got to dance along with one of the cheerleaders. I liked it because 1) they had fun, 2) it wasn't planned, they came running up as we walked by, so there was no wait or scheduling to see it and 3) because it was quick.

But you do make some good points, 1) the stage was bulky and in the middle of the "floor" and 2) the theming? Why wasn't this at MGM? I can't even think of anywhere better in MK for it?

It was fun and an added/unexpected bonus, but it really wasn't very "Disney-like".

I have not told my kids, DD 8 and DS 5, about this show yet (going in less than three weeks) because they will go CA-RAZY. They will not want to see Pirates, Jungle Cruise, anything, until they see this. Probably more than once. It is THE movie, THE music, for kids in the six to nine age group. We all know the words and yes, some of the dances, by heart.

It's a nice story. When the big wrap-up number, We're All in This Together, was used for the fifth grade graduating class's finale at my daughter's school show last spring, it was very touching.

I'm looking forward to it, thanks!
