ok so i'm about to start high school and everyone's changing their hair. they're adding like blue and purple and stuff, but i'm not that wild. i have just past shoulder length light brown hair, and i want something cool for high school. does anyone have any ideas? i was thinking going like dirty blonde with a shade or two highlights, but i have NO IDEA WHAT CUT TO GET!!!! so if anyone has any ideas please spill!!! thanks!!!! :goodvibes

Honestly my best advice is to go to the best salon you can afford in or near your town. Schedule an appointment with the owner or senior stylist and ask his/her advice. Not all color goes with every skin tone and not all all cuts/styles go with your facial features. Explain the same you wrote here and you should walk away happy.

i say that you don't have to change your whole hair color i would just get highlights i just got some with my brown hair and they turned out beautiful but if you want to go blonde go ahead and if you want like blue or purple but not permanent they sell like hair spray paint i got some and it works great

What's high school hair? Seriously, this is kind of inane. People basically have the same hair in high school as they do in middle school.

kind of like hair thats more appropriate for high school? idk someone else told me title it that way. but like i dont want unnatural colors like blue or purple. but i'll make sure to ask the pros and maybe i'll post pics later??? ;) thanks guys!

Get it highlighted, but as tlrudy said, definitely schedule a consult appointment. You don't want to walk out looking, well, horrible.

Well, you could always get some of those clip in hair things from Hot Topic that come in multiple colors. I have some in red and they're cool.

I wouldn't highlight your hair, though. I've done a lot of stuff to my hair and highlights (I have brown hair) are probably the thing that I've done to my hair that I regret the most!

if you're going to dye your hair, go for a few shades lighter or darker. unless you're really brave.

Well I personally don't think you should change your hair unless you want to. Most likely, no one in the new school is going to care, quite honestly, unless they're already your friends.

Go for the highlights if you have to pick one. Dyeing your entire head of hair takes a lot of life out of it and can turn out really bad...and when it starts growing out, it can look kinda weird. As far as the colors go, I wouldn't, because they do tend to look pretty tacky. :/ That's my two cents.

Alright, so I have dirty-blonde hair. The "main" types of hair-do's in High School a mainly straightened. Some people curl their hair. In my school, most of the girls have long hair, and straight. & then you have the girls with "The Poof" lol. But do whatever you like, be yourself (:

thanks guys! my friends keep talking about putting colors in their hair, but i'm not interested. i wanna go blonder, not like bleach blonde. with highlights a few shades lighter. i probably won't do that but i'm thinking :) but you know how everyone's getting that sideways emo cut? i've had that b4 and hated it cause it stayed in my eyes. i will make sure to ask a pro like many have suggested. and once again, thanks :)

My advise would be to stay natural- light brown is your natural colour? Well, then thats you.

Perhaps get something little done, like a full fringe (bang) or a side/sweeping fringe??
My best advise would be NOT to cut it too short straight away, get it cut a bit shorter and shorter everytime till you know the length you like and suits you best
:goodvibes

really i don't think you have to change your hair for high school but if you want to go ahead

This year (my freshman year of college) was the first time I did ANYTHING to my hair in about nine years. And even then all I did was cut some off to donate to a cancer charity.

Don't change something about yourself just because all your friends are doing it.

Plus maintaining a dye job like that can get really costly and time consuming and it is horrible for your hair.
