There are still high levels of lead in some children's vinyl lunch boxes according to the Center for Environmental Health: http://www.cehca.org/lunchboxes.htm . The problem was initially exposed last year, but it appears that some lunch boxes are still unsafe.
It appears that some lunch box manufacturers are new including a label saying they are "Lead Free" or "Ultra Safe". I just looked up my DD's new lunch box made by Arctic Zone (www.http://www.californiainnovations.com/index2.html) and it appears to be OK according to the manufacturer.
I am usually not one to panic about things, but my DD had high lead levels in her blood as a baby due to our water.
