my daughter is in 7th grade, and that means she gets invited to a lot of bar/bat mitzvahs. last night's party was "black tie optional".

she looked so grown up last night! she wore a slipdress and high heeled shoes.

for the first time in her life, she wore 3 inch heels.

she looked like Cinderella at the ball.

Sounds beautiful! :) I know you are proud of her.

Good for her. Now all she needs to learn is to wear that heel and try to get into the subway during rush hours. :)

...but don't wear them to the park or I'll get ya on BadShoe

3" heels on a 7th grader! Not in my house. Bet she looked super but that is asking for a broken ankle. Ok I am over cautious but my girls are 24 and 20 and don't wear 3" heels.

I'm sure she looked Beautiful. Have any pics?

It is so hard to let them grow up isn't it? My DD has wanted to wear slinky dress since the 6th grade she is now in the 8thand I let her. I was really nervous. It just means I am loosing control. :(

I'm sure she looked great!

I wish I still wore 3" heels. I could use the height. I'm just too out of practise these days!

Heck, when I was in the 7th grade I wore those big clunky platform shoes. Those were at least 3 inches. And at 12, I was about 5'8", and didn't need the height, but I didn't care, I loved my platform shoes.

And also my Candies. Remember those? Loved, loved, loved my Candies. :)

I'm sure your daughter looked beautiful, BR. Did you get pics?

Oh, I loved Candies too Snoopy :)

She wears Candies, Candies....

I never wore candies but I loved my heels! Briar Rose, I'm sure she looked lovely and we all want to see pics. :)

I'll bet she looked great! These young ladies have to wear the high-heels, because she may not want to wear them when she's older!! (I don't own any heels - but I'm glad I wore them when I was a teen-ager!)

BR, my daughter has been wearing 3-4inch heels since 7th grade. (she's now in 11th) She's never tripped or hurt herself wearing them. You learn quickly how to walk in them to prevent injury. I think they look hysterical with the typical 12 yo's skinny stick legs, but hey, who am I to judge what's in and what's not? When I was 12, I was wearing multi colored striped toe socks with earth shoes! ;)

my dd's are wearing toe socks! though not with earth shoes, though I did see some young woman wearing them on the subway.

no pictures, alas. but she's invited to a bar mitzvah in february. maybe then.

if i wore 3 " heels i would be towering!

I think 7th grade is a great time to start wearing heels. that way she will become more used to wearing them when she's older and won't feel self conscious.

I seldom wear heels because I'm just a har under 5'9. I all ready feel like an Amazon :p So when I need to wear heels, I feel extremely akward

I think it is wonderful to hear about a young teen feeling good about herself:) I bet you she was the prettiest girl there:)
