This will be our first trip as parents. Our son will be 22 months at the time. I thought I was a Disney pro but now I feel like I have no clue what I’m doing. I’m trying to think through our meals. We will mostly only do quick service meals due to his attention span (unless I feel brave and keep our topolinos breakfast reservation). Do all the quick service locations have high chairs? How does it work dining with a toddler at Disney LOL! Thanks for any and all help and tips.

We’ve gone with a toddler twice. It was pre-COVID but there were plenty of high chairs available at every restaurant. It’s actually a “deal” if you take a child to a table service restaurant because kids under 3 may share from your plate free of charge. At a restaurant that serves family-style they are basically getting their own free meal. Back when Chef Mickey’s was a buffet we paid out of pocket for my 4 year old to have a meal and she ate NOTHING but my 1 year old picked up the slack and ate a ton haha.

most have highchairs but not and endless supply so if all are in use you might not get one. at quick serve unless he eats off your plate you will have to pay for him a child's item. as pp said at all you can eat he will be free and at other table serve you would have to order and pay for a child's meal unless he eats off your plate. either way make sure that there is something on the menu that he will eat

Are high chairs just sitting out or do we need to ask for them? So say for example toppolinos breakfast, could we technically order 3 items for my husband and I and share with him? I think multiple items are allowed at that dining experience?

as to where, used to be both sometimes you had to ask and sometimes they were out to be taken. I have not been to toppolinos so I cant say for there. you would have to pay for all three items you order even if one would be for him. with our toddlers precovid we had good luck at buffets and all you could eat places as food came fast or you went and got food. these worked better than counter serves as you had to get in line order then wait for food which could take some time depending on line. granted now there is mobile order but from I have heard you can still have wait which can be rough with hungry toddler

We took our son at 18 months and also the week before he turned 3.

He was out of the high chair for the 2nd trip, but we never had problems finding high chairs during the first trip. We tried to eat at off-times so tables (and high chairs) were easy to find. And I understand your concern as I worried about high chairs too, but I found quickly I had been worried about nothing. :)

He’s always been a big eater (was 30 lbs at 18 months) and he could have eaten off of our plates, but we often chose to get him his own meal. At home, he eats whatever we’re eating, but on vacation, “kid food” was fine! Buffets/family style were great because they didn’t charge for him. Those places even gave us milk for him for free.

We've found high chairs at most quick service places, if I don't see any out I'll ask for one. If no high chair is available, or we're just getting a snack, we'll have him eat in the stroller with his snack tray.

One thing I learned is to keep zip loc bags with us because there's usually always leftovers and they make for easy snacks later.

We go often with our under 2 and never have issue finding a high chair. Many QS CM's will bring you one, even.

We do have to order him something at QS because he's a big eater and the portions IMO are not big enough to split.

At table service spots, we choose something we know is a larger portion/something he'd eat and share. At Topolino's, ordering more than one entree has been hit and miss via reports but I simply asked if I could get a bowl of fruit and would share w my toddler. Our waiter said he would gladly bring him something and rattled off a few options. We ended up with Mickey waffles for him, a huge thing of fruit for the table, and we each enjoyed an adult entree. They don't have to offer something but were very kind to do so.

Chef Mickey's was a favorite before they added back characters because my boy could throw down some breakfast and we only had to pay for us 🤣

I would not just limit myself to quick service because of a toddler. Navigating a crowded seating area, looking for an empty table, balancing a tray with drinks (with no lids) while keeping an eye on the kid is not fun. Family style dining is where it is at.
