I'm looking for a high chair to add to our baby registry, but all the ones I seem to like have that stupid bar that goes across the leg openings where the tray connects. Do companies not make high chairs that don't have that small try like bar that makes leg holes anymore? They are so hard to get bigger babies and toddlers out of. Our old high chair just has the post in front that keeps the baby from sliding out and the tray latches to the arm sides. My sister in laws high chair (its relatively new) has that small little try in front, and I can't even get my two year old in it, let alone OUT of it!

Do you have a high chair without this annoying tray like bar in the front?

I'm not 100% sure I understand what you are saying, however, I have 2 chiccos and had a peg Preggo years ago, none of these have leg holes, they are just an open chair, the part that splits the legs is attached to the tray if that helps? and I LOVE MY CHICCOS......

yes! Thats exactly what I was trying to spit out... I just didn't know how to explain it! I am looking for a high chair that is an open chair.

Thank you!!!:rotfl:

If I'm understanding you correctly, and it's okay if the leg divider is part of the detachable tray instead of the chair itself, then I think the Graco Blossom qualifies. We have one and love it!

I've had all manner of highchairs for my kids, from the all-singing, all-dancing Chicco type which reclines, adjusts for height, has a padded seat etc, to the Tripp Trapp style wooden chair which grows with your child. (Actually, I bought a very good copy from a European company called Tchibo) Since the wooden ones are still being used by my older kids, when our baby arrived last year we had to get a new high chair and we really pushed the boat out, and bought her... an Ikea Antilop. It cost £10 (I think they are selling for $20 on the US site) plus another £5 for the tray. It's absolutely the best thing - roomy, easy to clean, lightweight.

It's far more practical than the fancy ones, as there are no hidden crevices for food to fester, and whilst it doesn't have the features, I feel no need to recline my baby. Since we didn't start weaning to solids until she was 6 months, she was sitting perfectly well.

I know that having the divided part on the seat itself is what you are trying to avoid, but actually it is very easy to get her in and out (because of the lack of padding) and it means that without the tray we can bring it right to the table.

I detest high chairs. We have a fairly large kitchen and I still hate how much room it takes up. I only used ours until DS was about 15 months old. Then I moved him to a very nice booster at the table....would that be an option for you? Most of the boosters are adjustable and don't have the leg hole thing.

I have a small kitchen and didn't want a high chair taking up more room. With my first DD I went through 3 or 4 high chairs before I settled on one we liked. With our 2nd, she's been using this booster since she was about 4 1/2 months old. We've never had a problem with it and love it because it just stays attatched to her chair in the kitchen and the chairs still tuck under the talbe, and it travels easily!

Thanks for the info - I just looked this chair up. Wow, what a chair!
