Is it just the timeframe I am looking for or have car rental rates skyrocketed recently?

I just paid $93 for 6 days SUV with Alamo that included Memorial Day.

I am looking for a compact or economy car for Oct 14 - 22 and am getting rates that range from $200 - 400.

Is there anywhere that is onsite at MCO that is giving reasonable rates? Should I just wait and hope that the rates go down? Can anybody help?

I honestly did not think that it was that busy mid-Oct.

I'm in the same predicament you are. I used every combination of codes that I could find on Mousesavers, but the only one that gave me rates that were almost decent was Dollar. I used the KISS2 promo code.

I've been wondering the same thing about rates. In the past we've always gotten rentals in the midsize range for under $20 per day, but it looks like those days might be gone. Checking for December, rates are much higher. Maybe they'll come down as time gets closer, but I'm not counting on it.

If rates stay this high I will be using Disney Transportation. At some point a rental car does not become an advantage when the price point is this outrageous.

We've always paid in the $100-$115 rate for a week mid-size EA. The best rate I could find for Aug 12-19 is $183.

We're signed up for ME, but we're still hoping that the rates go down....If not, we'll use ME...and chalk it up to a new experience...

I don't think I'll mind using ME for the trip to the resort, we arrive at 8:30pm, so we don't have any plans for that evening....

We usually use the car to go to DTD or to go off-site for dinner or lunch when we're there, but we'll have free dining, so no need to eat off-site to save money :woohoo:

Our return flight leaves MCO at 7:00 am......3:45-4:00 am is awfully early to be at the bus stop! 4 of us up and moving, showers for Mom/Dad etc...I'll have to be up at 3:00am :sad2:

I have a one day rental from Budget (DTD - MCO) for $32, so that's another option to give us an extra hour sleep on our return morning! The car would be loaded and ready to go Friday night....

I agree with everone else. For the last 3 fall trips, we've always gotten a one week full size rental for just over $100. OUr trip in November is pricing at almost $200. Might have to go back to using priceline.

National just sent me an e-coupon good if you pick up by 9/30/06.
I got a week, intermediate size car for $124.36, total with all taxes. :cheer2:
The e-coupon should be good for anyone.

I love National it is right at the airport and you get to pick your own car out of the lot, last year I got a PT Cruiser and the year before that an SUV all in the intermediate level.

Here is what you do

Go to the National site
E Coupon code - ND41, $20 off week rental, 5 days or more any size car.
Mousavers Contract ID - 5125601

Combine the 2 and you should get this rate.
I am renting 9/20-9/25.

One Funny thing the Economy size car was more expensive then the Intermediate :confused3

Good Luck
