High Blood Pressure Signs/Signals

Hi. Does anyone know if there are signs of high blood pressure? My DH gets red/hot ears once in awhile then he said he had a nose bleed that lasted a looooong time at work today. His co-worker said that that could be a sign. He is over weight right now too, and that doesn't help.

I have high blood pressure. The symptoms you describe sound very familiar. Urge your DH to go get checked.

Often there are no signs at all so it's wise to keep an eye on it. I've suffered from it from a young age and my symptoms include headaches, feeling flushed and a bit light headed.

Urge him to have it checked! Better safe than sorry.

Your DH should get checked.

Some other signs:
Feeling like there's a tight 'band' around your head (seriously);
ringing in the ears;
face flushed after physical activity;
dizziness when standing quickly;
along with the others posted here & your DH's symptoms.

Encourage him to see his Dr. ASAP.

Everyone should be checked. Many times there are no signs at all.

Most people have no signs unless their BP is critically high. You can buy a blood pressure machine for under $30. Get one and take your hubby's BP a couple times a day(first thing in the morning, after work, after supper) and track it for a few weeks. If the readings are consistently above 130/90 he needs to see his doctor about it. (One reading of 130/90 is not significant)

I just wanted to add that high blood pressure runs in families. Please have your dh schedule a appointment to his doctor so they can determine if he needs to be put on meds or if there is something else going on with him.

Those could be signs of hbp, or other concerns, or, nothing at all. Additionally, as said, hbp can not manifest itself at all. Best is to be checked by a doctor.

Best to get checked. I have a lot of the symptoms that posters have described (except for the nosebleeds) and I do not have high blood pressure. I do have rosacea which will cause flushing of the skin, ears, neck, etc. It also makes me feel like my head is "tight" when I flush.

My DH was just diagnosed last week, after going to see the doctor for a sinus infection.

After he was diagnosed, he started putting two and two together. At times, when he'd stand up, he'd almost fall over because he was so light-headed.

I on the other hand, have low blood pressure. You never hear anything about that. DH took my blood pressure two days ago and he asked me if I was actually alive, after he took the reading.

Please get checked. My brother in law has high blood pressure but refused to get treatment. He started having bad nose bleeds and ended up having a stroke. He was very lucky and has completely recovered but it could have ended differently.

Have him checked!!!! I had NO symptoms. My dentist discovered it. I went to get checked by MD (I knew for sure I was waisting my time and money on an unnecessary Dr. appt.) Sure enough it was sky high. I am now on meds. Have him checked--and soon!!!

I have high blood pressure. Before I got on the meds I had headaches but I also would get red blotches on my throat after lunch and always feel warm. I also had a tightness across my shoulders.

Some drug stores and wal mart have blood pressure machines that you can use for change. The are not 100%accurate but close enough to check on it quickly.

High blood pressure is known as the silent killer because there aren't really any signs to watch for; but your DH probably should have things checked out. Better safe than sorry.
