Can anyone tell me anything about Holiday Inn SunSpree? I have read lot's of wonderful things about HIFS but, not much on HI SunSpree. What are the major differences?
:D

HI Sunspree rooms are not suites. They have partioned off a part of a reg. room to house bunkbeds. So instead of getting more room, you lose room. The HI Maingate has done this too.

At the HIFS kidsuite there is a Masterbed room w/door,the 2n bedroom has bunkbeds and some rooms also have a small trundle bed, then there is a sofa/bed in the main room. Each sleeping area has a TV for 3 total. And kidsuites have nintendo 64 machines[games rent for $5.00 per 24 hrs].

Plus HIFS has many family freindly activities in the evening, bingo, kareoke, and putt putt golf just to name a few.
You can check out HIFS here

HIS is still one of the better HI's in the area, IMHO. They and HIME pioneered the kidsuite idea here and, while it is only really a compromise between a normal room and a kidsuite, it is still done in a very kid-friendly manner, I think. The HIS is also still a relatively new property and is extremely well situated for Disney. If price is no real concern here, opt for HIFS. But Sunspree (and HIME for that matter) are both decent choices for slightly less $$$s.

Tink2dw, it looks as if you have stayed at the All Stars and HIFS. I am trying to decide between the two for a visit in December. Which one did you like the best? I have two young children and would love to have the extra space that HIFS has, but is it worth it to go off-site? Would love to hear your opinion!

As stated in the other posts, the Sunspree isn't a true "suite" hotel, but rather has a separate kids area built into the main room. It does not have all of the features of HIFS but we still thought it was nice.

I recently got an email about the Sunspree now having a free breakfast buffet, I believe that special ran until the end of September. They have also painted, instead of pink, the hotel now has a more modern multi-colored look.

There are a couple of things we liked better about the Sunspree. There were times that HIFS just felt too big, a walk from the buildings near the adult pool to the kids pool is pretty far and forces you to walk through the restaurant area with your swimming stuff. We also felt the Sunspree food court was less cramped, was better designed, and more efficient.

The Sunspree has similar activities, when we were there they had a movie theatre, karoake, pool activities, and a magic show.

The HIFS has many more features and is newer, but as stated earlier is also more expensive, especially with some of the current specials at the Sunspree. If they were the same cost I would stay at HIFS without a doubt. When putting cost into the equation you need to decide what you can afford.

Despite the fairly recent remodel of the Sunspree when we were there last year we found it to still have and old and kinda dirty feel to it. We were going to eat lunch there and found the foodcourt disgusting. I haven't stayed at the HIFS but have only heard good things about it. I will say we really did enjoy the pool at the Sunspree, but it seemed that at least once a day in the limited amount of time we were at the hotel some idiot would not take proper precautions and the pool was closed because someone had an accident in the pool. For the most part I was rather unimpressed with the class of people we encountered at the Sunspree, but I guess that goes with low price. I guess that goes back to the "get what you pay for" saying.

I just booked at HIFS for 89.00 per night. Unless someone has something negative to say we will probally stay there. I am still waiting to see if there are any great codes for WDW coming up. I wonder how much magic we will miss if we stay off site?:D

I know my husband will want to check out the golf courses so one advantage to us staying at HIFS would be that the kids and I would we able to take it easy or have things to do that I would feel comfortable doing with out him. I don't think I would venture into any Parks without him!
Has anyone played any golf while on vacation to WDW?

Between All Stars and HIFS?? Hands down I will ALWAYS go with HIFS!!! It is practically on site it is so close to Epcot,MGM,the water parks anf Swan/Dolphin!! It is only 1 mile from the WDW gates!!

We loved the Space and Disney Theming at HIFS[considered a 4 star hotel, only the Deluxes out rank it ]. All Stars has NO in-room themeing. That was a huge disappointment.

The HIFS bathroom was double the size of the one at all stars! With more Storage.

At HIFS the master bedroom has a door!! The kidsuite has everything to keep kids entertained! A tv,nintendo 64[games are $5. per 24 hrs.],a CD player,A bed time story phone,a small table and 2 chairs[good to use for meals in the room], and tv speakers and controllers on the wall of the bunks for the tv.

It was really nice to have a fridge, and microwave and sink, too.

The kids loved the pool, and Family Kareoke!!

I had hurt my knee before we left to go to WDW. I liked that you could park close to your room and not a half a mile way to get to the parking lot.

We found the MAGIC OFFSITE AT HIFS.

We were miserablely cramped into the All Stars room. Which got smaller and smaller as the days went by.

I will always chose the HIFS!! I think it is a great buy!!

:Pinkbounc I am losing posts in cyber space I hope this helps the one above one show up??

Last Oct. we drove to Fla. from Md. straight throught. We had reservations at Old Key West, a studio for DH, DD(4 at the time) and myself but not until th next day. O.K. Where do we stay???? We stop a tourist place and I found a brochure on the HIFS I read about the Kids Suites and thought what a great idea. I called them and they had a Kids Suite available so I reserved it. Boy!!!! were we surprised when we saw it. It was great. Our DD loved it, her very own room, T.V. VCR, play phone, table and chairs and best of all bunk beds. I have to tell you that we were very dissappointed with Old Key West after staying at HIFS. Going back again this year and looking forward to another short stay there before we head over to Old Key West again, we reserved a 2 bedroom villa at OKW for this year. I hope it is as nice as the suites at HIFS. To bad that the HIFS doesn't accept DVC points.

I have lots of picture's of HIFS at www.picturetrail.com where it says visit album/member's name put Tluvs2talk. We are true Disney resort people and still LOVED HIFS...

I made reservation at HIFS for 2 night in Oct. yesterday. Got a Kids King suite for 109.00 a night. They are offering a discount in exchange for a non-winning Florida USA Scratch off lottery ticket. I was told that you should already have one before you call to reserve but she did say that if I didn't have one to pick one up on my way to the resort, just make sure it's not a winner before I turn it over to them. :bounce:
