We are thinking of staying at the HIFS may 12th-16th and will book under the mousesavers.com deal where you get $50 in food money to be used each day there onsite. I was wondering what have some of your experiences been with the food at the restauratns onsite, or could anyone give reviews on the restaurants there. Any help would be MUCH appreciated!!!

Okay. Here's my opinion. Let me preface by saying we stayed at HIFS in Dec. '01 and we are going back in Oct. We love it there! In terms of food, the breakfast buffet is great. Not gourmet, but perfectly fine and lots to choose from. A great money saver! We did not eat at the food court, so I can't comment on that. On to the dinner buffet: Yuck! We didn't enjoy it at all. The food was mediocre at best, and often we found that they served the same (reheated) food two nights in a row. Since it was right in the hotel we ate there 3 times just out of convenience, and because we really weren't familiar with other dining options in the area. It was at least twice too often. This time I am armed with loads of retaurant options in the area. We will make plans to eat out most nights, and if we are real tired we will try the food court.
Please don't let me sway your decision to stay there, though. As I said, we are going in Oct. and can't wait. However, I would look around and see if you can find a better rate without the $50 food vouchers. You save enough money just with the free breakfast to make this hotel a great bargain!

I agree completely with Mrs. Mudd,

Breakfast was perfectly fine, and a great way to save money. There was always a good variety and it kept our kids happy. An excellent value, and another good reason to stay at HIFS.

Dinner buffet was not good. Now, I'm particularly biased because I got sick the day after eating there. I'm not saying it was because of the food because my wife ate most of the same food I did and was fine, it's just that when you're really sick to your stomach, you tend to think back unhappily on the meal you had before.

The food court food was fine for dinner - we got pizzas for the kids a few nights.

I would suggest heading out to eat. As Mrs Mudd suggested, there are so many places close by. We had a great time, and really good meals, at the Rainforest Cafe (just a few minutes away at DTD) and at Bahamma Breeze (pretty close by on I-drive).

We had exactly the same experience when we stayed there in June 2002. The breakfast was great and just couldn't be beat for a family of 5, what a money saver! There was a wide variety and something for everyone. They also let you take things back to your room.

Dinner was not very good, it wasn't terrible, but it wasn't good either. We had a rate which included 2 free dinner buffets per night and the 3 kids ate free. We did eat there quite a few times because we were on a budget. We also didn't really know where else to go as this was our first trip to Orlando.

The pizza was really good though, we all enjoyed that.

We really had a good time at this hotel, it is alot of fun. And we saved a TON of money on food. The kids absolutely loved the pool and it was such a short drive to the parks. We would definitely stay there again!

I'd agree with all of the previous posters.

Breakfast was good.

Dinner was a great deal for us because we had dinner vouchers(buffet) included but if we didn't have those vouchers, we would not have had too many dinners there. The quality was not good and we aren't particular or fussy people. I don't know if it makes a difference ordering off the menu.

The only food court place we tried was the pizza hut and it was very good.

We got HIFS kids suite for $86/night entertainment card rate ($96 with taxes) for a few nights this May. If you have an entertainment book, check out that.

Hi, just to let you know that while I was surfing I found a site where they were offering the entertainment books for 10.00$ which is a great deal! You might want to see if you can book a room with this rate for less than the deal you have now, and then you can get the book. Good luck!
