is there a way to hide a folder in word. I'm working on a book I'm writing and I'd like to keep it private. Alot of folks use my pc in my house during the summer. They won't go looking for my stuff but I'd feel better if they couldn't just see it right in the list of files worked on recently.

If your main concern is that the file doesn't show up on the recently worked on file list, you can turn off that feature by going to Tools / Options and on the General tab, setting the Recently Viewed File amount to 0.

If you truly want it hidden, you would have to do that in Windows, either hide the files themselves or the whole folder. :)

Get a thumb drive they are very cheap and just save it to that .Heck with the prices now you could even get 2 ,1 as a back-up.

This way it's never really on the computer just keep opening it right off the drive.

You could also just password protect it. When you go to "save as" there is a menu in the top right that says "tools" Go to "Security" and at the top, there is a box where you can put in a password required to open a file as well as a password to modify the document. I usually only do the one to open.
