World Showcase is one of my favorite place at WDW.
Everyone has their favorite secrets and hidden treasures so lets share!

I will get things started.

In Morocco You will notice that each mosaic on the walls has at least one cracked/flawed tile in it.The Moroccan people worship Allah, and believe that only Allah can create something that is "perfect," so every mosaic was purposely flawed!

Below is a site that has quite a few fun facts, but if you have any personal hidden treasures please share! For example, every time I go I have to spend a couple minutes looking at the little artists (with the camera and the photos) display in front of France near the bridge to International Gateway.

So who else has some fun facts and some personal hidden treasures at World Showcase!

Mexico is the only country not to light up during illuminations this is due to religious reasons.

that's actually morocco

it's the only pavilion that's sponsored by the government, not corporations, so everything is subject to the King of Morocco's approval, which is also why there's no Kim Possible World Showcase Adventure mission there. He wouldn't allow for the installation of the equipment.

morocco also has a prayer room to give its cast members a place to pray in near-seclusion.

In UK the series of connected shops get more modern as you go through them. The Twinings Tea shop has rough-hewn timbers inside with stone flooring and a thatch roof and as you pass into each store both the inside and outside of the shop are from newer eras.

Thanks for this, looking back at some pics I have, I never noticed this before.:thumbsup2

I have looked for this one many times and not found "it" yet.

In Italy, the uniformly spaced posts around the building out front have figures molded into them a little above eye level. One of the figures is reputed to be holding a bowling ball.

I found that lots of the figures were holding what looks like a bowling ball, and did not find one that was distinctively different from the others.

Then someone mentioned that "the bowling ball" had its finger holes visible and the holes were arranged as a Mickey head figure (a hidden Mickey). I did not succeed in finding that one.

Want to know all the secrets? Check out The Hidden Magic of Walt Disney World It's got the hidden secrets in all four parks, unique Imagineer quotes, Fascinating Facts and a great timeline of Walt Disney World.

Brand new, and well worth reading! :thumbsup2

Morocco is the most interesting pavilion in the WS IMHO. There is just so much there. The Museum just to the left has some very pretty items in it. There is a courtyard just next to it that is very quiet and peaceful, and the rest is like an Indiana Jones movie.

The courtyard behind the shops on the far right of France is nice and quiet (most times) and Princess Aurora shows up there sometimes.

Then there is the Tin Museum in Japan. Truly special.

And let's not forget the Train Garden in Germany.

The first building as you enter Norway has a roof covered with real sod. Horticulture workers get up on that roof and trim the grass with clippers since they don't have a goat to keep up there as they do in Scandinavia.

Really? I'll have to try to remember to look up there next time to see the sod.

the dark brown tiles in norway represent a river too. they run from the waterfall of maelstrom to the world showcase lagoon. the reason being that the stave churches (where the viking museum is) are traditionally built on peninsulas.

norway also has the distinction of playing disney music for its BGM before 11 am because of akershus

I was reading the lits of secrets and I came across this one.

The pictures on the walls inside American Adventure were all painted by various Disney artists. One picture in particular is an optical illusion. The picture hangs in the corner to the left as you first enter the rotunda. It is a picture of a B-17 bomber from back in World War II. In front of the picture is a grey strip of tiles on the floor. If you stand on the gray tiles and walk back and forth, the plane seems to swivel to follow you.

Has any one seen this and does it actually work?

Morocco and Norway are the two Pavilions that have not had "lights" installed for IllumiNations.I have heard several reasons for this with the most frequently mentioned being religious, but others say that since they were the last two Pavilions built, lights simply were not added to them.:)

Great thread! I can't wait to discover these "secrets" on my next trip. Keep them coming!:goodvibes

Is it just us or has anyone else noticed that the picture shown on the globe during illiminations are actually telling the story of the creation of earth. First fire, then water, then land, then the evolution of animals and man.
