I'm new to this board, so I'm sorry if this question has been asked. We started collecting pins in 2000, but we're not serious: we just get a couple each from each trip that mean something to us, and very rarely trade anything.

Anyway, friends just returned from the world & as a thank you for all the DIS info I gave them they brought me back a pin from the Hidden Mickey Collection. It's Tinkerbelle with 2 purple flowers on it.

So, here's my question: we have all gone nuts trying to find the Hidden Mickey!! Can anyone here help us? The closest we've come is that my DD thinks it's Tink's head (her hair makes the 2 ears), but I don't think that's it.

TIA!!

I looked the pin up on Pin Pics and I found one that sounds like what you have.
It is #47154 on Pin Pics. wish I could post a photo but I am computer illiterate.
What they consider the hidden Mickey is the quite visable small black Mickey head on the right hand corner of the pin. It is not really hidden like we would assume a "hidden" Mickey would be. but that is what a hidden Mickey pin is, any pin with the black Mickey head on it.
A few years ago they released some of these pins without the Mickey head and they are now re-releasing them with the Mickey heads. I haven't really kept up with pins much but I do remember reading this somewhere. So if you have an older pin it might be without the black Mickey head. I couldn't find one on pin pics however without the Mickey head. Hope this doesn't confuse you more. Peggie

Cast Lanyard Series 4 had three Tinker Bell Frame pins in it - yellow, pink and purple. The series can be found at http://pinpics.com/cgi-bin/group.cgi?group=3273

The new "Hidden Mickey Series" has one Tinker Bell frame pin in it - http://pinpics.com/cgi-bin/pin.cgi?pin=47154

The "Hidden Mickey" is at the lower right hand corner of the pins.

Cast Lanyard series 1 and 2 did not have the Hidden Mickeys. A few pins in Lanyard Series 3 did not have them; a few pins in series 3 - like red monorail - came out with and without Hidden Mickeys.

Confused yet ;)

The hidden mickeys are actually silver and on some pins is in, oh, a signature or a pattern on their clothing, but mostly they are not really hidden to the naked eye, but someone who didn't know they were looking for a mickey -which until recently was the way to determine a cast lanyard only pin- would miss it. Thereby making the collectable pins noticeable to traders but still keeping them a trading commodity because not EVERYONE knows about them. NOt until, that is, they released a bunch of them open edition. The ones you buy are larger to keep them on scale with other open edition pins and most of them are an additional pin to a cast lanyard series. There are I think 3 cast lanyard Tinks from that series besides the one your friends bought you.
Happy hunting!!!

Thanks to all of you for your help! This series is kind of confusing, but I think I understand now. The "hidden mickey" is really just an icon to show what series this pin is in: it's not actually "hidden". In the one picture it looks black, but IRL it's silver, like the back & edge of the pin.

Thanks again! At least we're not going crazy looking for the "hidden" mickey anymore!!
