Hidden Dining/Quick Service Treasures at Hollywood Studios

Backlot Express. Love the Cuban sandwich.
I’ve never heard of a Cuban sandwich before, and I know I wouldn’t consider it if you or others on this thread would not have mentioned it. I just googled it and it sounds really good. Since we’re going to Hollywood Studios twice this year, I think I would like to give this a try. I’m glad you and others have mentioned this 🙂

Cuban Sandwiches are great! It hasn't been mentioned as much, but Backlot Express is a pretty solid choice. It's very "safe" and also good for picky eaters, like my buddy who often wants a plain hamburger. 🤣

Funny I actually made them for dinner last night. I love them. We even go out of our way to hit CBR QS at Centertown Market. They have a good Cuban there too. Enjoy!

Gasparilla grill has Cuban sandwiches. Epcot brought back the fish Tacos at sunshine seasons (didn’t see them on our last trip).

Now can we top it off by brining back spring rolls at the dessert party!!!

I'd take the boat over to the Beach Club and go to either Beaches and Cream or Ale and Compass at the Yacht Club

Do you have time to leave the park? The Riviera is only a short skyliner ride away and has amazing quick service AND really good food at Bar Riva.

Ya know.....I did think about doing this, but I don't think my DD21 would be to excited about leaving the park. If it was just my DH and I we would absolutely do this. This trip will probably be her last WDW for awhile due to her starting grad school in July and then she's going to have clinicals - I'm not sure when her schedule will allow another week away. I may be surprised and it'll be sooner rather than later. For now, I'm trying to really cater to her and her desires for this trip. Who knows....it could be our last family vacation too. She may get married in the next couple of years to her lovely BF - it's all so up in the air.

We all have wanted to try Beaches and Cream and we've also wanted to walk around The Riviera. If we take the boat to Beach Club, approximately how long is that ride and approximately how often does the boat come and go?

Baseline Tap House has a large pretzel with beer cheese and a charcuterie plate plus an option to make your own beer flight. But if you want a more traditional option the Ronto Wrap is really good.

And air conditioning ~ the rare DHS QS amenity AND refillable drinks! We think it's quite fun too to check out all the props and decor.

We had the mashed potato bowls at a place by Tower of Terror (forgot the name the stand right by the ice cream place) they were quite good and filling and very reasonable

We like Backlot Express if we eat a late supper. It is mostly out of the way and if we eat later, it is mostly empty so it is a good crowd escape while we eat. It is QS so it has typical QS food but we are mostly QS eaters anyway with 1-2 table service meals mixed in.

Ok Friends......

We are going to Hollywood Studios twice on our trip in March. I'm stumped on what to do for food.

I don't want.....
Brown Derby - to expensive
SciFi - we don't like how someone has to be alone in the backseat
Hollywood & Vine - we're not a fan of the food
Mama Melrose's - we can have Italian anywhere
Backyard BBQ - DD21 and I went last year and we loved the theme, but not the food
Prime Time - is a possibility, but we've ate there many times already

We rarely try quick service at Hollywood Studios, and would be willing to, if there was something special. The reason we never try different places is because we aren't big eaters and when we have reservations, I want to be hungry to eat at our reservation.

My family includes myself, DH and DD21

If anyone has some yummy suggestions for dinner, I'd really appreciate you sharing them.

Thanks :smickey:
If the table service is expensive for you at HBD try the Lounge. You can just order the Cobb Salad ad Grapefruit Cake there.
