Never posted here or thought I'd need too. I have said some silent prayers for some folks here and will continue to do so.
Please if you will say a prayer for my daughter -she has been in PICU since Thursday night with severe respriatory distress- can't breathe- due to a hernia in her diaphram that is allowing her stomach and colon to protrude into her chest cavity- pressing on her right lung. She'll have surgery sometime next week and will be on a ventilator and under sedation until then. This is to make sure she gets plenty of rest and doesn't pull out the various wires and tubes. She is also fighting a viral infection (probably started as a cold) that is more severe due to her circumstances. I'm back to the hospital- just hoping for as many prayers as we can get.

Thank you
Kristi

I will keep you all in my prayers. Please continue to update us on her condition.

Thank you so much. She is resting peacefully tonight but had an eventful afternoon. She was sedated but started coming out of it late this afternoon. They upped her dosage of sedatives several times and even tried a narcotic to keep her sedated. She just metabolized the drugs so quickly- the staff was astounded that she wasn't staying under and although she didn't seem terribly distressed, she was yanking on her tubes and twisting up in all of her various wires and they really needed her to calm down. Finally, several increased dosages and two new drugs later, she was put on a paralytic as a last resort. A new nurse who is wonderful at making her comfortable came in and she really seems much better now and is sleeping so peacefully. All of the staff are so wonderful but this guy seems to have a real talent for finding the right position for her to be comfortable and he's so on top of everything. I feel very lucky to have the staff we have here- including a world renowned diaphramatic hernia specialist surgeon. Surgery is scheduled for Monday but could change if her chest infection isn't better.
As lucky as I feel- I just can't believe that's is my happy, playful, sassy, never quiet little punkin laying in that bed. No matter how I appear to everyone else- (my family members are saying I seem to be holding up pretty well) I feel like I'm just losing control on the inside. Thank you again for your prayers-

Please take care of yourself and I will keep her in my prayers for a speedy recovery from the surgery as well as this respiratory thing...

I hate it when little ones are so sick...

Thank you for the update. Hopefully she will be well enough for the surgery. It sure is tough watching your little one struggle. Take care of yourself too.
